00:00 The MMDA and local governments will hold a meeting tomorrow on the drainage system.
00:05 They say that the increasing volume of rain is unbearable.
00:08 Here is the first news, Rafi Timac.
00:11 Hey, don't block the road.
00:17 A concerned driver told a child that he saw a road being blocked by a drainage in Quezon City.
00:23 What do you want to happen? You want to build a pool here?
00:26 You're a good boy, don't block the road.
00:29 It has reached the MMDA that this is the reason why 80 places in Metro Manila are flooded.
00:36 Most of them are low-lying areas that are exposed to water from higher places.
00:42 Unfortunately, the drainage system here is small.
00:47 The volume of water cannot accommodate.
00:51 Second, it is being blocked by garbage.
00:56 This year, 61 flood control projects are expected to be completed, including the upgrade of several pumping stations.
01:03 163 trash traps were also installed in various estuaries in Metro Manila.
01:08 But 20 more will be added before the rain comes.
01:12 After the installation of these trash traps, we only get around 10,000 cubic meters of garbage annually.
01:21 The amount of garbage collected is substantial.
01:26 In Pasay, the citywide clearing operation was started as a preparation for the rain.
01:31 Residents were also asked to throw their garbage properly.
01:36 Our preparation in Alanina is continuous.
01:40 We have a cleaning of all estuaries and drainages.
01:46 We do this every Saturday.
01:49 On Wednesday, the MMDA and local governments will help.
01:53 They will discuss the drainage system, which cannot handle the increasing rain due to climate change.
02:00 The canals that will be built will accommodate the water that will fall 30 years from now.
02:13 With this consideration, the pattern of increasing the volume of water that falls in Metro Manila is good.
02:20 This is the first news. Rafi Tima for GMA Integrated News.
