Camperdown's Lily Eldridge speaks following her side's round six Hampden league win against Port Fairy.
Transcript
00:00 Alright Lily, great win today, you must be happy with that?
00:03 Yes, I think we're finally starting to string four quarters together as a team.
00:07 Obviously being so young it was really hard at the start.
00:09 We'd get that three quarters into us and that fourth we'd really lag off and allow that jump on us.
00:14 Today I think our third and fourth we did have patches of lull, but we were able to build ourselves out of that
00:19 and I think that's really exciting going forward as such a young team.
00:22 The eldest on the court is 23, so I think we've got our future in youth ahead of us which is exciting.
00:27 Port Ferry made you earn it, you must be pleased that you could consist of four quarters?
00:32 Yes, I think last week was tough against Cobden, obviously they made us work hard for the four quarters
00:36 and I think that was a great game to lead us into this.
00:38 We knew we had to adapt to that four quarter game.
00:41 They're old and strong bodies, so I think it was really good that we could get the four quarters over them
00:46 and build ourselves out of the lulls.
00:48 As a team we had a new line-up today with myself starting back in goalkeeper
00:52 and running Piper and Leah as the first time through goals together.
00:55 I think it was really pleasing that such a young team could adapt to change.
00:58 Do you think this will be good for the group's confidence, only a young group, tasting a win like today?
01:02 Yes, I think so. I think a lot of people wrote us off pretty early and said we'd have a few bigger learnings to achieve,
01:08 but I think as a collective we're super proud to be the dark horse and getting four points every now and then is nice.
01:15 Are you happy with your performance today? You were one of the better performers according to your coach?
01:19 I don't know, it felt a bit rusty being back in defence.
01:21 It's been about 12 months, but it was good. That's obviously where I've originated,
01:26 so it was really nice to be back there with Matilda.
01:28 She's come out of the Ballarat League and she's earning her position every week and playing such great netball at the moment.
01:33 Are you enjoying being in this side after coming across?
01:36 Yes, after coming back it's been really good. I missed the country footy vibe.
01:40 The league across the board at the moment is actually really consistent and a really tough league.
01:45 Obviously South are a step above us all, but I think every game we haven't lost by over 10.
01:50 I think after some of these girls lost by 60 or 70 last year, it's a huge improvement for the club.
01:55 Thanks for that.
01:56 Thank you so much.
