00:03 The NBA last night, another upset in the Mavericks Thunder Series.
00:06 As this game goes back and forth and the series goes back and forth.
00:10 This time it's Dallas going on the road and beating the Oklahoma City Thunder.
00:14 Final 104 to 92 last night.
00:16 Triple double for Luka Doncic, 31 points, 11 rebounds, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
00:23 Of course, the total last night was 213, so this goes under the total.
00:27 The Mavericks win outright, so they naturally cover the spread and
00:31 get the money line for you as well.
00:33 A back and forth series it has been with Dallas having an opportunity to close out
00:38 the series in the next game, but it was the block as you can see of Luka in
00:42 the 30 point triple double was huge against Shea Gildress Alexander.
00:47 And everyone talking about that on social media today,
00:49 Luka talked about the block last night.
00:52 >> You obviously, 30 point triple double shot the ball well, but
00:55 how satisfying was it for you to seal this with that block and transition?
01:00 >> A bit, next year, all NBA defensive team.
01:04 >> [LAUGH] >> No,
01:07 we just see was the ball escaped a little bit for him.
01:13 So that's why I got the block.
01:14 >> [LAUGH] >> So we do it so anyway, but.
01:19 >> In terms of you stepping up in a game five when the series is tied two to two,
01:23 maybe there's some extra.
01:25 >> Yeah, I mean the whole team stepped up.
01:27 I couldn't do it without my teammates.
01:29 Everybody that came on the floor gave 100% energy and we play as a team.
01:35 We win as a team, we lose as a team.
01:36 And this team is special, man.
01:39 We've only been together for what, five months?
01:42 And I'll be having a lot of fun with this team.
01:45 >> Mavericks can close it out this weekend.
01:48 Did Luka say all defensive team next season?
01:50 I think he was joking.
01:52 All right, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been eliminated from the NBA playoffs.
01:55 It was a pretty simple series for the Boston Celtics.
01:59 They lost one game, which was a surprise, but without Donovan Mitchell,
02:02 essentially the Cavs had no shot.
02:04 113 to 98 last night, the Celtics did barely cover the spread.
02:09 I know in some books it went up to 16, but most had 13 and a half, 14.
02:15 Maybe some pushes at 15 as well.
02:17 4-1 was the series final Celtics win as they move on to the Eastern Conference.
02:21 We'll await the winner of Indiana and New York, Jason Tatum.
02:24 Last night, 25 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists.
02:26 But the story last night, honestly, was the ageless wonder.
02:29 Another big performance in the playoffs from the big man, Al Horford.
02:33 22 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks and 1 steal.
02:37 Jason Tatum, one of the stars of the Celtics,
02:39 talked about just how big it was to get that performance from Horford.
02:43 >> Yeah, I think the one play in particular when he saved the ball out of bounds
02:48 in the last two minutes of the second quarter, it just gave us that extra
02:52 possession and pumped the crowd up, pumped our team up.
02:56 Those plays, that was so meaningful.
03:01 And just how he played in the second half on the defensive end,
03:05 he knocked down big shots time and time again.
03:08 So his performance, his energy,
03:12 his leadership tonight was crucial.
03:17 >> Jason, what impressed you most about what you're able to do in this series?
03:21 And what do you think will help you moving forward in the Eastern Conference
03:25 finals in terms of lessons learned, things you're able to accomplish?
03:28 >> One, how we responded after game two, going on the road in a pretty
03:35 good environment in Cleveland and winning two big road games.
03:38 And then coming back here tonight, and
03:44 they battled, Cleveland battled, give them a lot of credit.
03:47 They didn't wanna go home, they competed, they made it tough on us,
03:50 and we made enough plays to win the game.
03:54 >> And indeed, you would add right now at this point, the Boston Celtics are
04:01 on course right now to potentially play in the finals in the NBA, but
04:06 still will have to get past, of course, as you see there,
04:08 the winner of the Nixon Indiana Pacers.
04:11 By the way, they'll play that game tomorrow night.
04:14 Well, no more games to play right now for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
04:17 There's a report on ESPN, which is kind of surprising to be honest with you this
04:20 morning, that JB Bickerstaff may be removed as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
04:25 I mean, I don't know, Cavs had a really good regular season.
04:27 They ended up beating the Magic.
04:29 And yeah, fell short against arguably the best team in the NBA, but
04:33 I don't know what the Cavs' plan would be if Bickerstaff would be removed.
04:35 We'll see.
04:36 Meanwhile, Vince Carter is gonna have his number 15 jersey retired by the Nets.
04:40 He played four and a half seasons with them.
04:42 He's the only player in NBA history to play four decades, by the way.
04:45 NBA Rookie of the Year in '99 with Toronto.
04:48 Went to New Jersey in December of '04, played with the Nets '08, '09.
04:52 His last season was with the Atlanta Hawks.
04:54 He'll have his jersey retired, and
04:56 he'll become the seventh Nets player to have that done.
04:59 Meanwhile, Kaitlin Clark, her debut was the most watched WNBA game since,
05:04 get this, 2001.
05:06 Indiana Fever drew 2.1 million viewers across all platforms on Tuesday night.
05:12 Most watched WNBA game on ESPN.
05:15 2.3 was the peak as far as most people watching at one time.
05:18 And just a huge amount of fans watching women's sports right now.
05:23 It's just so great to see, although that picture stinks.
05:26 [LAUGH] You're on the ground like that.
05:28 Let's get that off the screen.
05:29 Fever will take on the Liberty tonight.
05:31 You can watch the game at 7 o'clock Eastern on Prime Video.
05:35 That's your next opportunity there to watch Kaitlin Clark.
05:37 In Major League Baseball,
05:38 Ronel Blanco got a ten game suspension for having a foreign substance in his glove.
05:43 He pitches on the Houston Astros.
05:44 He threw a no hitter earlier in the season.
05:47 We'll see what this means for his future.
05:49 Meanwhile, Max Scherzer not getting back to Texas anytime soon.
05:52 60 day injured list, right triceps issue, nerve issue.
05:57 Just wanna get him back for the second half of the season.
05:59 Naturally, the Rangers won the World Series last year.
06:02 And gonna need Scherzer, and my guess is Jacob deGrom will come back at some point
06:06 too to bolster that rotation in the second half of the year.
06:10 Meanwhile, the team that was the worst team in Major League Baseball for
06:13 a period of time, the Colorado Rockies, they won seven games in a row.
06:17 How about that?
06:17 They shut out the Padres and swept them.
06:19 Eight to nothing the final there.
06:21 And by the way, Yankees play the Twins again today.
06:23 Yankees won yesterday four nothing.
06:25 Won ten Eastern start Clark Schmidt, Joe Ryan.
06:27 Not a lot of afternoon baseball here on this Thursday.
06:30 Last night in hockey, the Colorado Avalanche stay alive.
06:33 They forced game six, and Dallas leads the series three games to two.
06:37 The final went over the total of six and a half yesterday, five to three.
06:41 The final there.
06:42 Meanwhile, some golf news.
06:43 How about this? A former warehouse assistant for
06:45 the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia has pleaded guilty.
06:48 He's transported millions of dollars worth of stolen Masters Tournament memorabilia
06:52 and historic items, including Arnold Palmer, one of his green jackets, yikes.
06:56 His name is Richard Glabensky in Georgia.
06:58 He entered a plea in federal court in Chicago charged with one count of
07:02 transporting goods knowing they had been stolen.
07:04 He's got to write a cashier's check of $1.5 million to at least pay some of this back.
07:09 The NFL schedule was released yesterday.
07:11 The social media teams around the country doing a great job revealing the schedule.
07:16 Opening night, we know, it's Ravens Chiefs on September the 5th for
07:19 a Sunday night game.
07:21 Is the Rams and the Lions, the Jared Golf Bowl, I guess.
07:25 Also 49ers Packers in November and 49ers Lions is the final Monday night
07:30 football game of the season on December the 30th, we mentioned yesterday.
07:33 Netflix is going to host two games on Christmas Day.
07:37 Also Cam Hayward of the Pittsburgh Steelers not participating in workouts right now.
07:44 He's seeking to become a potential free agent or even get a new contract.
07:48 He's never missed an off season program.
07:50 35 years old, one of the best players on the defensive side of the National Football League.
07:55 He signed a four year $65 million contract in 2020.
07:59 He's looking for a new deal.
08:00 We'll see if he ends up getting it.
