00:57 In the middle of the high electric bill,
00:59 some are just passing through Tawanan,
01:01 the problem with Judith or Judate,
01:04 like her neighbors in Quezon City.
01:06 It's really Judith.
01:08 Not Marites, but Judith.
01:11 Up to several provinces,
01:14 the bills are shockingly high in electricity.
01:17 Gilbert Dindo, who's been dismayed
01:19 because he hasn't paid his last bill,
01:21 has arrived again.
01:23 According to Central Negros Electric Cooperative,
01:25 their electricity bill is 1 peso and 73 centavos per kilowatt hour
01:29 because of the increase in the market price.
01:33 What they're doing is basically generation charges
01:37 based on the price in the market that's high and fair.
01:41 Because of the increase in the price of electricity in the spot market,
01:44 the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative
01:46 has a bill of more than 3 pesos per kilowatt hour this month.
01:51 The electricity rate in residential, low-voltage,
01:55 and high-voltage commercial establishments
01:57 that are included in the Electric Cooperative Inc. bill
02:00 has also increased by more than a peso in April.
02:01 That's why in Boracay, in the town of Malay,
02:03 resort and hotel owners are using energy-saving devices
02:07 to save money based on the survey
02:09 of the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperative Inc.
02:12 31 cooperatives have said that they have a high bill in electricity.
02:16 Region 6 or Western Visayas is the most affected
02:19 and Region 1 or Ilocos Region.
02:21 They are just distributors of electricity, collectors, and remitters.
02:25 We're just worried that consumers won't understand.
02:28 Some electric cooperatives are studying an installment plan
02:31 for those who are having a hard time paying.
02:33 But the Meraco customers don't expect this.
02:36 The electricity has been consumed.
02:39 For us, it's postpaid.
02:42 You consume first before customers pay.
02:47 In May, the electricity bill was cut
02:49 and the transmission charge, taxes, and other costs were raised.
02:52 But the generation charge is the heaviest.
02:54 It was bought by distributors like Meraco
02:57 and electric cooperatives to supply electricity.
03:01 In April, they bought expensive electricity
03:03 from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, or WESEM.
03:06 The price of electricity was increased
03:08 because some plants were damaged and supply was lacking.
03:11 At that time, many people were using electricity
03:14 because it was too hot.
03:16 The electricity bill was raised by 53% in Visayas
03:19 and 11% in Luzon.
03:21 All of this will be paid by consumers.
03:25 But it seems that this won't end soon.
03:28 The Energy Regulatory Commission has allowed
03:31 30% of the electricity plants
03:34 to be cut when the Reserve Power Company sold it in March.
03:36 The ERC suspended the payment
03:39 because the bill is too high and it will affect the generation charge.
03:42 The ERC asked for an explanation on why the price is so high.
03:46 The ERC said that it will be affected by the June electric bill
03:49 but they haven't said how much it will be.
03:51 Meraco also said that if there is a lack of electricity supply,
03:55 it will also affect their generation charge.
03:59 For GMA Integrated News, I'm Macky Pulido, your witness.
04:05 More work to retire earlier.
04:10 That's what some Filipino Gen Z believe in one of their studies.
04:15 EJ Gomez is a witness.
04:17 27-year-old Ja is proud to be a multi-talented creative industry worker,
04:27 events host and manager, multimedia producer, and social media manager.
04:32 He gave it all in his hustle.
04:35 So right now, because of having multiple jobs,
04:38 I was able to invest and have my first car and also my properties
04:43 that eventually I want to turn into business.
04:45 Amy is also a side hustle.
04:49 I used to have a multi-shop where I could get a source of income.
04:54 But I chose to help my brother in my brother's new business.
05:02 On his day off, he focuses on the food business as a cashier and server.
05:07 For Ja and Amy, work and career are priority.
05:10 Their game plan is to work as much as they can.
05:14 That's also what came out of a health insurance provider's study.
05:18 Most Gen Z or those born between 1997 and 2015
05:23 prefer the "live fast and retire young" scene.
05:27 Many choose to have more than one job
05:31 or maybe even side hustle or gig for the future and retirement.
05:35 In contrast to the preference of Millennials and Gen X
05:38 of ideal retirement preparation,
05:40 they prefer to work in a traditional office setting while planning their business.
05:45 Clinical psychologist Rainer Ladik explains,
05:48 Actually, as we age, our personality stabilizes
05:54 and it affects our openness to options.
05:57 So it means to say that the older we are, the more we look for stability.
06:02 It's good to have someone who can support you in your work.
06:06 If there's stability or if we have a routine,
06:11 it saves energy for us.
06:15 However, there's a possibility of missing out on life if you just stay in one place.
06:20 There's no problem with side hustle,
06:23 as long as you don't forget your health.
06:27 For GMA Integrated News, EJ Gomez, your success.
06:32 Now that climate change is becoming a hot topic,
06:35 the private sector is pushing for stronger measures
06:38 to prevent the destruction of the environment.
06:42 These measures are also being fooled by investors.
06:45 EJ Gomez is back.
06:48 In a record-breaking time of temperature in the Philippines and other parts of Asia,
06:57 the team of international scientists says,
07:01 the hot weather is getting worse because of climate change.
07:04 The additional heat they receive from the use of oil, gas, and coal
07:09 resulted in incidents of deaths due to high temperatures.
07:14 In the fight against climate change, the private sector's role is important,
07:18 according to Global Compact Network Philippines,
07:21 which is part of the United Nations Global Compact.
07:23 This initiative is really to help out the bigger companies
07:28 to complete their greenhouse gas emissions by educating,
07:32 creating awareness, and capacity building for our suppliers or our supply chain.
07:38 The Sustainability Commission's push for investors is also a trick to fool them.
07:44 From 2019 to 2022,
07:46 companies are giving more and more Sustainability Reports to the SEC.
07:51 Investors are actually looking at the company if you have this report.
07:54 And if you have it, companies will be interested, or investors,
07:57 financial institutions will be interested to flow money to you.
08:01 As part of the development of the environmental, social, and governance, or ESG, landscape in the country,
08:07 GCNP partnered with a Singapore-based software company
08:12 for the one-stop digital platform ESGpedia.
08:15 Companies that have already started to produce ESG data,
08:19 to be profitable, you have to be sustainable.
08:22 GCNP's target is to add more.
08:25 At present, it has more than 50 member companies,
08:28 and 100 by 2024.
08:30 At the same time, it is slowly encouraging SMEs,
08:35 or small and medium enterprises in the country,
08:37 to be united in the sustainable operation of their businesses.
08:41 For GMA Integrated News, I'm EJ Gomez, your witness.
08:48 Complaints of the two main suspects in the disappearance of the pageant contestant, Catherine Camilon,
08:53 were filed by the Office of the Regional Prosecutor in San Pablo, Laguna.
08:57 The lack of evidence is the basis of the prosecution for filing a complaint in April
09:01 for kidnapping and serious illegal detention
09:04 against former police major Allan De Castro and his driver bodyguard, Jeffrey Magpantay.
09:09 De Castro was Camilon's last companion before he disappeared, according to the police.
09:13 The prosecution is still trying to get hold of him.
09:16 Camilon's family just received a copy of the decision today.
09:19 They are desperate, but they hope that they can find the person who kidnapped him.
09:24 Austria is still interested in hiring Filipino workers.
09:29 Austria still has high needs for Filipinos in nursing, IT, construction,
09:35 and other professions, according to the Department of Migrant Workers and the Austrian Government.
09:40 The salary there is equivalent to up to P124,000 for skilled workers,
09:45 and more than P370,000 for IT, professional or engineer.
09:50 Work-life balance in Austria is also expected,
09:53 with the possibility of permanent residency and access to healthcare and other social services there.
09:58 Filipino relatives can also work there.
10:01 In addition, the President ratified the agreement between the Philippines and Austria
10:05 for a clearer path to recruiting and protecting the welfare of skilled workers.
10:11 For GMA Integrated News, Raffy Pima, your witness.
10:15 GMA Network is still ahead in ratings.
10:20 It is getting more recognition through television, radio, and digital platforms.
10:25 GMA's online ad revenue increased by more than 70 percent compared to the previous year.
10:32 Witness, JP Soriano.
10:38 At the annual stockholders' meeting of GMA Network,
10:41 GMA Network President and CEO Gilberto Duavec Jr. shared the ongoing lead in the ratings of the popular network.
10:49 In total of 2023, 29 of the 30 top programs nationwide came from GMA.
10:57 Our main channel, GMA, continued to rank first, while GTV ranked third among all TV channels nationwide.
11:06 I am pleased to share that 29 out of the top 30 programs across urban and total Philippines were from GMA,
11:15 with 24 Horas and Kapusuno Jessica Soho topping the list of programs.
11:21 Superadio DZBB and Barangay LS also remain number one on radio in Mega Manila.
11:29 Some of GMA's local radio stations in the provinces also topped the list.
11:34 GMA Regional TV also reached 25 million viewers.
11:40 GMA Network continued to strengthen and expand its presence in the digital space.
11:48 In line with shifting viewer habits, we launched Kapuso Stream in 2023
11:54 as a platform to live stream our programs in high definition across multiple internet-enabled devices,
12:01 complementing our pervasive terrestrial TV reach.
12:05 Due to GMA's exclusive and original digital content,
12:10 aside from the television shows,
12:13 GMA's subscribers increased even more.
12:20 This proved that GMA's digital online ad revenue increased by 72% year-on-year.
12:28 Our collective efforts were fruitful.
12:31 We closed the year with 45.2 billion video views across our social media channels.
12:38 Our social media subscribers and followers climbed to 345.6 million
12:45 and our GMA mobile app downloads reached 3.86 million at year-end.
12:51 In 2023, GMA Network also returned to making movies,
12:58 like the 2023 MMFF and MIFF Best Picture Winning Film, Firefly.
13:04 We have five network productions slated for release in 2024 and early 2025,
13:10 including two already optioned for OTT distribution by a major global streaming service,
13:16 with four more films in the pipeline for co-production in 2024.
13:20 The first part of 2024 is also a big year
13:25 due to GMA's various collaborations with various content producers
13:30 for digital productions like YouTube and ABS-CBN.
13:35 The collaboration between GMA and ABS-CBN with respect to the airing of its showtime
13:42 was actually preceded by a number of other partnerships,
13:46 all of which have been very smooth, been characterized by reasonableness,
13:51 and have benefited all the parties.
13:53 Having said that, there is no reason not to assume that there may be future collaborations or partnerships in the future.
14:02 The Board of Directors of GMA was re-elected
14:06 under the leadership of GMA Chairman, Attorney Felipe Algozon,
14:10 President and CEO, Gilberto Duavid Jr.,
14:14 Chairman of the Executive Committee, Joel Jimenez,
14:17 Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Felipe S. Yalo,
14:22 GMA Senior Vice President, Attorney Annette Gozon Valdez,
14:26 Judith Duavid Vazquez,
14:29 Laura Westfall,
14:31 and former Chief Justice, Artemio Pangaliban,
14:34 and Jaime Laya as independent directors.
14:38 For GMA Integrated News, J.P. Soriano, your Saksi.
14:44 To avoid being stopped by a police car,
14:49 that truck hit another police car in Lima, Peru.
14:53 Even though the police stopped it, the truck left quickly.
14:57 The chase continued until the truck hit a post and its driver was shot.
15:04 According to the police report, the truck driver was an employee of a cargo transport company.
15:09 He rushed to the route, so his employers heard the police.
15:14 This is the mode of the truck thieves, along with the GPS of the vehicle.
15:20 If you are going to go on a road trip to Albay,
15:30 you can stop over at the stores of their biggest version of Puto.
15:36 And in Quezon, the eyes of the people are full of joy.
15:42 And that's the journey of Saksi, Denise Abahante of GMA Regional TV, Balitang Southern Tagalog.
15:47 Let's go party in Quezon.
15:54 It's like someone is throwing colorful colors on the streets of Lukban.
15:58 The design of the houses is colorful.
16:00 It's not just peace for the eyes, because the food is authentic.
16:05 Like this one, Hittik sa Repolyo.
16:07 Someone used a dance and someone made a house out of a cube.
16:11 It's like you can hear the drums.
16:13 Everyone is taking pictures.
16:17 Some are even joining the dance.
16:20 The Magarbong Pista of Pahiyas,
16:22 thanks to the rich harvest and prosperity of San Isidro Labrador, patron of the farmers.
16:29 The same goes for the Aranye and Baluarte Festival in the town of Gumaca.
16:35 The fruits and vegetables are also the highlight of every barangay.
16:39 The blessings of the ocean are also included in the design.
16:43 And following the procession of the image of San Isidro Labrador,
16:49 #Blessed, the residents and visitors gave them the food.
16:56 The feast lasts until the end of May.
16:58 More food trip? Let's go to Ligao City, Albay.
17:03 For almost four decades, they have been growing their rice.
17:08 The mixture of rice grains is just next to the road.
17:12 The rice is mixed with sugar and ground or sticky rice.
17:15 And it is colored like the color of grapes.
17:18 And it is cooked using a steam.
17:20 We took care of the quality,
17:23 then the texture,
17:25 and we didn't change the flavor.
17:30 And the mixing of rice.
17:33 The rice is delicious when it is full of rice.
17:36 If you are looking for an outing in the heat, let's go to Tanawan City, Batangas.
17:43 Take a dip in the cool water of Pag-asa Weather Bureau River Park in Barangay Ambulong.
17:49 It's easy to go there because it's just behind Pag-asa Ambulong Station.
17:54 Welcome the family and friends, residents and tourists.
17:58 Just pay 20 pesos environmental fee.
18:01 For GMA Integrated News, I'm Denise Abante of GMA Regional TV,
18:06 Balitang Sabahin Tagalog, your Saksip.
18:10 [Music]
18:16 The South Korean actor, Ung Ki-joon, who watched the hit Korean series, "Penthouse", is getting married.
18:23 Alden Richards answered the questions about their relationship with Catherine Bernardo,
18:30 the witness of Aubrey Caramfeo.
18:32 [Music]
18:35 The fans of "Pagkikita" were overjoyed when they saw the multimedia star of Asia, Alden Richards, and Catherine Bernardo last weekend.
18:42 They were introduced as the box office king and queen in the Box Office Entertainment Awards.
18:48 In a viral video, Alden saw Catherine Bernardo being chased down the stage.
18:53 When asked, Alden's answer was very short.
18:56 It's okay. Of course, she's like me first and then she's next.
19:03 Alden also added that he doesn't want to talk as much as possible because he wants to be personal and private with Catherine.
19:12 Alden also made a complaint against the fake news online about them and the actress' ex-relationship.
19:20 I will never comment any defamatory words to someone that I don't really get along with.
19:30 Be careful and watch out for what you see on social media, especially if it's not an official account of the artists who are posting.
19:40 [Music]
19:44 New fans are also excited to see the newest global survival search fanfic.
19:51 17 charming and talented aspiring big idols from several Asian countries will compete in singing and dancing challenges for the chance to be included in the group.
20:04 They will be able to watch starting this Thursday, 6 o'clock PM starting tomorrow at GMA Halifax in partnership with Djungo Pinoy.
