00:03 - So Bob, what was your first impressions
00:05 of Valhalla Golf Club when you got on the property?
00:08 You know, a lot of times as a pro golfer,
00:10 you kind of mentioned that you had been playing well,
00:13 but a lot of times you just get those good vibes
00:15 when you're at a place that you just feel like
00:17 it fits your eye and that it just, maybe just,
00:21 it just, good vibes are just present.
00:23 Did you kind of feel that way about Valhalla?
00:25 - You know, I like the greens
00:28 'cause they had a lot of like sections
00:31 and you had to hit the ball to this part of the green
00:32 or that part of the green.
00:34 And I always felt that I was a very good iron player.
00:38 So I kind of liked it because you had to be
00:42 in the right part of the green
00:43 to give yourself a good chance.
00:46 - Man, I love that.
00:47 And I, you know, everybody talks about
00:50 the 2000 PGA Championship,
00:53 mainly 'cause Tiger Woods was,
00:55 that's kind of when he was at the beginning
00:56 of the height of his power, going for his third
01:00 major championship that year.
01:02 Nobody had done that since Ben Hogan.
01:04 Talk to us just about how nuts it was at that time
01:08 playing in an era in which Tiger Woods was at his peak.
01:12 - I mean, playing in that era, you know,
01:14 with Tiger at his peak,
01:16 you see how long these kids hit it now.
01:20 And Tiger was basically that long back then.
01:24 And there really wasn't, but maybe two or three other players
01:28 that can really hit it out there with them.
01:30 Not only was he long, but he was extremely straight.
01:34 Okay, so now you got long and straight.
01:37 And then not only was he long and straight,
01:40 he also had great irons play.
01:44 He also had a great short game and great putting.
01:47 So I mean, there wasn't a weak part of his game.
01:50 You know, usually you could find something,
01:52 but his game was so rounded.
01:54 And, you know, I always, I don't mean to be brash
01:58 or anything, but I always, like I said,
02:00 I thought I was a very good ball striker.
02:02 And I can still remember a couple shots that he hit
02:06 that just stick in my mind and that were very impressive.
02:10 I mean, I can remember the two iron he hit on number 10.
02:13 It was like 260 some yards.
02:16 And he hit a two iron higher than I've ever seen anybody
02:19 hit a two iron and it never left the pin.
02:21 Now it landed about a foot short
02:24 and rolled back in the bunker.
02:25 But still, it was just a phenomenal two iron.
02:29 I mean, it was unbelievable.
