00:00New polling by Opinion for Compassion in Politics reveals that over two-thirds of

00:06Britain's support implementing a law to criminalise politicians knowingly

00:12deceiving the public. 45% believe politicians lie now more than before and

00:1772% favour the proposed law akin to one under review by the Welsh Senate. If

00:24enacted Wales would become the first to penalise political lying. Politician Adam

00:30Price introduced the motion garnering bipartisan Senate support including

00:36from Welsh Labour's Vaughan Gething. The amendment to the Members and Election

00:40Bill aims to disqualify those guilty of deceit with exemptions for belief or

00:46misunderstanding. Price emphasises the need for politicians to weigh their

00:51words ensuring public trust and indeed many feel the change would help restore

00:57confidence in politics.
