00:00 I'm Conway Giddens reporting from the New York Stock Exchange.
00:02 Here's what we're watching on the street today.
00:04 Wall Street is feeling optimistic after a weaker than expected April jobs report revived
00:09 hope that the Federal Reserve could cut interest rates sooner than anticipated.
00:13 Markets are pricing in about a 50 percent chance that the Fed slashes rates as soon
00:17 as September.
00:18 Meanwhile, names like Disney, Uber, Airbnb, Warner Brothers Discovery, and several others
00:24 are slated to release earnings this week.
00:27 So far, a vast majority of S&P 500 companies that have reported have beat Wall Street estimates.
00:34 In other news, Boeing is finally launching two NASA astronauts to space on its Starliner
00:39 spacecraft.
00:40 After years of delays, Boeing will launch its first ever manned spaceflight to the International
00:45 Space Station on Monday.
00:48 This will be a key final test before the aerospace giant can routinely send flights to the space
00:53 station.
00:54 But it took a while to get to this point; the first test flight was scheduled for 2015
00:59 but was delayed for four years.
01:01 In 2019, the aircraft's unmanned flight was cut short after various software glitches
01:07 led to a clock malfunction.
01:09 And a second attempt was planned for August 2021, but that was delayed until May 2022
01:16 when the Starliner successfully launched to the ISS unmanned instead.
01:20 If the test flight is successful, Boeing could compete against Elon Musk's SpaceX, which
01:26 has been successfully shuttling astronauts to and from the ISS since 2020.
01:32 And that'll do it for your daily briefing from the New York Stock Exchange.
01:35 I'm Conway Giddens with the Street.
01:36 Thanks for watching.
01:37 And I'll see you next time.
