00:00The two wives of PDL in Bilibid are being complained about for conducting a body cavity search on them in the Maximum Security Compound.

00:09The head of the Bureau of Corrections will explain this to the House Committee on Human Rights.

00:14Mark Salazar is on the scene.

00:20The couple in New Bilibid Prison are their wives, Gloria and Maricel.

00:25They went to the Commission on Human Rights earlier because of the new visitation policy in the Maximum Security Compound.

00:32When they visited on April 21, they were asked to sign a waiver before being taken to the body cavity for a body search.

00:40I cried and my body was shaking while they were lifting my t-shirt and bra.

00:48They also took off my pants and underwear.

00:52I was squatted 10 times while I was naked after that.

00:58They have been there for several visits but this is the first time they experienced this.

01:03The prison guard who conducted a body cavity search on them is a woman.

01:08According to Maricel and Gloria, the prison guard told them that this is a new policy of the Bureau of Corrections in the Inmate Visitation Services Unit.

01:17I cannot understand what I am feeling right now.

01:22I am ashamed of myself.

01:24In front of the searcher, I feel that my dignity as a human being is being trampled.

01:34This is all I have.

01:36Maybe you know this because you signed a waiver.

01:40Yes, we signed a waiver but it did not specify what kind of search we will do.

01:51It's just a waiver that we will comply with whatever they will do.

01:55According to the Bureau of Corrections Director, Retired General Gregorio Catapang, the complaint has not reached him yet.

02:01He will investigate the allegation against the Inmate Visitation Services Unit.

02:06Catapang said that the tight screening of the visitors is so that the facility will not be violated by smugglers.

02:13The family and friends of the political prisoners asked,

02:17Why are all the drugs that enter the New Bilibid Prison as trading points come from private parts owned by women?

02:31When in fact, what they should investigate is how the big drugs and smugglers enter the New Bilibid Prison.

02:44The citizens of the block accompanied the camera the complainants of the detainees.

02:49They will also call the House Committee on Human Rights, led by the Bureau of Corrections,

03:25We are also trying to get permission from the Department of Justice for the new visitation policy,

03:31but they are not responding yet.
