00:00Touching down at Orly Airport, Chinese President Xi Jinping kicks off his state visit to France.
00:06High on the agenda is the war in Ukraine. European leaders would like to see the
00:10Chinese President pushing his counterpart Vladimir Putin to accept some compromise
00:15to help negotiate an end to the war. We hope that peace and stability will
00:20return quickly to Europe and intend to work with France and the entire international community
00:25to find good paths to resolve the crisis. On the trade front, several European countries
00:31are determined to cut down the bloc's trade deficit with China, which stood at 291 billion
00:37euros last year. But Europe remains divided. Some member countries refuse tit-for-tat measures
00:44because China is a key economic partner. Among them are Serbia and Hungary,
00:48the two other countries President Xi is due to visit.
00:52We are really great friends. And despite some countries in the European Union, even Brussels
01:03wants to, how can I say, impose some steps on China, we are opposite.
01:12China hopes that this vision will prevail to avert a tariff rail or an all-out trade war
01:17with the bloc. Among other discussion topics on the table are climate change and human rights,
01:22as well as Taiwan and the South China Sea, which the Alizé has not planned to discuss.
