Transcript
00:00 Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the most spine-chilling
00:11 locations in the Fallout games.
00:13 We're not including vaults on this list as we already did a separate list on the creepiest
00:17 vaults, so go and check that one out next.
00:29 Number 10.
00:30 Andale, Fallout 3
00:32 You'll find this all-American town far south in the Capital Wasteland, but not everything
00:44 is as it seems.
00:45 The people here are just too friendly, too chipper, welcoming you into Andale in a way
00:49 you just can't help but be suspicious of.
00:52 And you're right to be suspicious because the town's residents are cannibals.
01:01 If you investigate the town, you'll eventually find stashes of human flesh as part of an
01:04 unmarked quest called "Our Little Secret."
01:07 But then you have a choice.
01:16 You can either wipe out the town, the good karma route, or agree with them by either
01:20 passing a speech skill check or making use of the perk "cannibal" if you've taken
01:25 it.
01:26 Number 9.
01:27 Point Pleasant, Fallout 76
01:35 This small town in West Virginia has one very famous resident, Mothman.
01:39 This prophetic cryptid is speculated by some to be responsible for 1967's tragic Silver
01:44 Bridge collapse and now stalks the wilderness of post-apocalyptic Appalachia.
01:48 When you visit Point Pleasant in Fallout, you can explore the world-famous Mothman Museum
01:52 full of Mothman information and memorabilia.
01:55 In 2021, things got much creepier as the "cult" of the Mothman arrived, bringing with them
02:00 random encounters with the creature itself.
02:02 He's one of the most sinister beasts to ever grace the wasteland with his presence.
02:06 Creepier yet, you can also collect and cook the eggs the Mothman laid.
02:17 Number 8.
02:18 The Sunwich Building, Fallout 3
02:30 This sinister office building is miles away from anything else in the capital wasteland,
02:34 meaning you'll likely only find it if you're going looking.
02:42 Once inside, you'll see various ghostly flashbacks, doors will open of their own accord, and you'll
02:46 find a sacrificial obelisk.
02:54 With the addition of the Point Lookout DLC, a side quest, Dark Heart of Blackhall, will
02:58 give you a cursed book called the Krivbekne.
03:01 You must take it back to the Dunwich Building in the capital wasteland where it belongs
03:04 to get good karma.
03:13 All of this is one big reference to HP Lovecraft, with the name Dunwich coming from the Dunwich
03:17 Horror and the Krivbekne standing in for the infamous Necronomicon.
03:22 Number 7.
03:23 Pikmin Gallery, Fallout 4
03:31 While Dunwich Borers LLC also returned in Fallout 4 to be the subject of another creepy
03:36 location, there's a much more interesting Lovecraft reference found in the streets of
03:39 Boston.
03:40 Throughout the world, you'll sometimes find the victims of violent murders, all with Pikmin's
03:44 calling card on them.
03:45 Or maybe you were asked to investigate by Hancock.
03:56 Either way, you can eventually find the Pikmin Gallery, showing a dozen disturbing and gruesome
04:00 paintings inside.
04:01 Journey deep into the basement to find Pikmin himself, getting the quest, Pikmin's Gift,
04:05 which ends with you unlocking a rare weapon.
04:15 This is an homage to the Lovecraft story, Pikmin's Model, also set in Boston.
04:20 Number 6.
04:21 Camp Searchlight, Fallout New Vegas
04:27 You're always going to have to go to the Fort to meet Kaiser at some point, which requires
04:31 taking a boat from Cottonwood Cove in the southeast of the Mojave.
04:34 But to reach Cottonwood Cove, you can't avoid passing through Camp Searchlight, a former
04:39 NCR base that was irradiated by the Legion.
04:41 It's now infested with feral ghouls, highly dangerous, and has a green color filter.
04:45 On a first playthrough, you're probably just trying to make it through the other side alive,
04:49 not stopping to help the prospectors or find the rare weapons.
04:57 You'll learn the town's backstory as you go, and will be relieved when you finally escape.
05:02 Number 5.
05:03 The Crater of Atom, Fallout 4
05:06 The entirety of the Glowing Sea is pretty creepy if we're being honest.
05:16 Highly radioactive and almost completely uninhabitable, it's full of high-level super mutants, rad
05:21 scorpions and deathclaws.
05:23 But in the heart of the Glowing Sea, at ground zero for the atomic bomb we see dropped on
05:27 Boston at the start of the game, is the Crater of Atom.
05:33 This is the home base of the Children of Atom, a disturbing religious cult who worship radiation
05:37 and believe the Great War was divine in nature.
05:45 This group luckily isn't hostile by default, but they're definitely eerie, and if you encounter
05:49 them elsewhere in the Commonwealth, they'll attack on sight with devastating gamma guns.
05:57 Number 4.
05:58 Torren's House, Fallout 76
06:01 Another pop culture reference now, this is, of course, one big homage to The Shining.
06:07 The house is named for the Torrens family, who become caretakers of the Overlook Hotel,
06:11 and you can find the aptly named Overlook Cabins nearby too.
06:14 As in the Dunwich Building, strange occurrences will begin to plague your 76er.
06:19 Like the Overlook, the house has a maze containing a skeleton armed with an axe, referencing
06:23 how Jack Torrens ultimately dies at the end of The Shining.
06:26 You can also find blocks spelling out "Redrum" and a tricycle like the one Danny rides through
06:30 the hallways.
06:31 Number 3.
06:32 The Museum of Witchcraft, Fallout 4
06:35 While most of Fallout 4 takes place in and around Boston, other famous towns in Massachusetts
06:39 also appear, notably Salem, which you'll find in the northwest camp of the map.
06:51 This ominous building is a one-to-one recreation of the real-life Salem Witch Museum, but it's
06:55 hiding a secret.
06:57 A monster lives inside the museum, striking fear into the hearts of everybody who passes
07:01 through the town.
07:08 In a scripted horror sequence, the sole survivor is stalked by the creature throughout the
07:12 museum, eventually discovering that the building is now a deathclaw nest.
07:16 As a miniature horror level, it's a fun but frightening breath of fresh air.
07:25 Number 2.
07:26 The Cathedral, Fallout
07:27 Undoubtedly, the Master is one of the most disturbing villains to ever appear in a video
07:32 game and this is where he resides.
07:39 For the climax of the game, you'll finally track him down to this imposing building in
07:43 the ruins of Los Angeles, and will venture inside to find that, all this time, it was
07:47 housing the remnants of a Vault-Tec demonstration vault, which is now the Master's base.
07:52 Your party members will drop like flies once you enter, and when you reach the mutant himself,
07:56 it's just you and him in a confrontation for the ages in which you need to persuade him
08:00 that his plan won't work.
08:11 You'll never forget the tense combat encounters and oppressive atmosphere down there.

08:41 Number 1.
08:42 The Sierra Madre, Fallout New Vegas
08:54 The series went full survival horror for dead money, the first DLC released for New Vegas.
08:58 The Courier follows an ominous radio message and is brought to the Sierra Madre, a resort
09:02 and casino that never opened because of the war.
09:12 There are hazards everywhere.
09:13 A toxic cloud covers the entire villa, the former workers are now ghost people who won't
09:17 die unless they're dismembered, there are radios that will trigger your bomb collar
09:21 to explode if you stay in range of them, and there are deadly holograms stalking the halls
09:25 of the casino itself.
09:26 The Sierra Madre is one of the most frightening locations in the entire franchise, making
09:30 the rest of New Vegas look like child's play.
09:37 Let us know in the comments which of these locations filled you with dread.
