00:00Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most butterfly-inducing
00:10kisses in teen movies.
00:17Since some of these moments happen at the end or at other crucial points of the film,
00:21consider this your spoiler warning.
00:24Number 30
00:25Bianca and Wesley – The Duff
00:27The Duff wins by employing several of our favorite tropes.
00:31We've got childhood friends who dislike each other now, and bonus points for being
00:45neighbors, a changing room montage, a love triangle, or maybe it's more like a love
00:49square, and of course, the big homecoming scene at the end.
00:53Bianca and Wesley, as they begin to reform a friendship that goes beyond the exchange
00:58of banter, unexpectedly kiss.
01:01It comes at an inconvenient time, considering Bianca just got her crush to go out with her.
01:06But Bianca and Wesley are the couple we're rooting for anyway.
01:20The kiss that really steals the show comes at no better time than homecoming, when the
01:24two shed their labels and admit their feelings.
01:38Number 29
01:39Veronica, Ronnie L. Miller, and Will Blakely – The Last Song
01:44Will, I did not come here for some stupid summer romance.
01:48This movie is a little difficult to rewatch, knowing the tumultuous relationship that would
01:52develop between Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth in the subsequent years.
01:57But 2010 Us could simply not get enough of The Last Song.
02:09We got to see Cyrus excel in a role that held a little more weight, and got a few passionate
02:14embraces out of it too.
02:16The best of them has to be when Ronnie finds out about Will's past.
02:20She doesn't want to be just another one of his flings, and he assures her she is not.
02:31The 360 spinning around them, the glow of the sun, the pure emotion in that kiss, it
02:36hits all the right beats and makes us feel all the things.
02:40Number 28
02:42Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers – Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
02:46This movie is a lot of fun, and not just because of the whole video game concept.
02:51The labor of love that went into this is evident, in practically every frame, thanks to the
02:56clever editing, animation, text, and creative use of sound.
03:08Scott and Ramona's kiss comes early enough in the film, and it's surprisingly sweet.
03:13You know, if you ignore the fact that Scott hasn't broken up with his girlfriend yet.
03:16Still, the animated hearts and bandmate in the background give this moment a little something
03:21extra you just won't find in many other teen films.
03:33And the moment that follows is quite endearing too.
03:46Number 27
03:47Beatrice, Tris Pryor, and Tobias for Eaton
03:50Divergent
03:52In the teen books-to-movies canon, Divergent is certainly up there.
03:59We like to forget about the series ending altogether so we can enjoy the first movie,
04:04and this kiss, in peace.
04:06It happens in the aftermath of Thor letting Tris see his worst fears in the simulation.
04:16They'd already grown pretty close by this point,
04:18with Thor having found out about Tris' Divergent status,
04:21but this strengthened their connection even more.
04:35After all, nothing says I trust you like letting someone in on your biggest fears
04:39and childhood trauma.
04:41Number 26
04:43Matthew Kidman and Danielle-slash-Athena, The Girl Next Door
04:47While this was marketed as a teen comedy, its content would have you believe otherwise.
04:52Still, The Girl Next Door has been cemented as a cult classic,
04:55and is definitely a product of its time.
05:08After a rocky introduction, Matthew and Danielle spend some time together
05:12getting to know each other better.
05:14It's clear there's a connection there, even if Danielle is a bit reticent.
05:18She brings exactly the sense of adventure Matthew wanted for his senior year.
05:22It's at a party where he finally makes his move, and it's spectacular.
05:27Despite the turbulent developments to come, this moment always steals our breath away.
05:39Number 25
05:40Andy Walsh and Blaine McDonagh, Pretty in Pink
05:43They just don't write him like Blaine anymore.
06:00After he and Andy go on their first date,
06:02the night ends with a major sore spot coming to light.
06:05Andy doesn't want him to see where she lives.
06:08Wealth status is an overarching theme in the movie, but Blaine stomps his foot right in it.
06:13Not only does he comfort her so effortlessly,
06:28but we get a wholesome promposal and a kiss that's not quite as innocent.
06:44The ardor can be felt right through the screen, and by the end,
06:47we're letting out that same scream Andy did.
06:51It also sets the scene for the swoon-worthy prom smooch at the end.
06:55Number 24
06:57Al Evans and Noah Flynn, The Kissing Booth
07:03While this series may not be the most elegantly crafted of stories,
07:06it definitely has some great makeouts.
07:08When Al and her best friend Leigh host a Kissing Booth fundraiser,
07:12things go astray, and Al ends up a blindfolded candidate.
07:16Noah, as he has one too many times, comes to her rescue,
07:19and they kiss on stage in front of everyone.
07:29We can't imagine what was going through Al's head when the blindfold came off,
07:33and much less when they went in for another round.
07:36The way it's shot, with the 360 spin and sparks flying around,
07:40makes this moment pure magic.
07:42Like it's really only the two of them in the world,
07:45despite the fact that they're still in front of everyone.
07:52Number 23
07:53Mia Thermopolis and Michael Moskovitz, The Princess Diaries
07:57He loved her before she was Amelia, Princess of Genovia.
08:01And that is the mark of something real, folks.
08:03To be loved is to be seen, right?
08:06Why me?
08:10Because you saw me when I was invisible.
08:12Plus there was the whole foot pop thing, which we will never get over.
08:15You know, in old films, whenever a girl gets seriously kissed,
08:19her foot would just kind of pop.
08:22After Mia reconciles with Michael, he shows up for her the way he always has,
08:27and the two share the most fairy tale kiss ever.
08:30Really the same person, and yes I will have to live in Genovia a little bit,
08:33but I'm still going to go to school.
08:45The magical ambiance of the whole scene,
08:47coupled with the tension of the years of friendship and suppressed feelings between them,
08:51makes this one for the books.
08:54Number 22
08:55Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Malark, The Hunger Games
08:58Katniss.
09:03Katniss.
09:04No!
09:06I'm not gonna leave you.
09:08I'm not gonna do that.
09:09The stress of survival and the prospect of imminent death
09:12are definitely things that can push two people together.
09:15In the case of Katniss and Peeta though,
09:17there was something there long before they entered the arena.
09:20Though this kiss doesn't line up super neatly with the book's version,
09:23it's every bit as moving.
09:25Peeta's on the verge of death when it's announced that the medicine he needs
09:28will show up at the cornucopia.
09:30The question over whether to go is non-existent for Katniss,
09:34but Peeta is steadfast in his opposition.
09:36There's no way I'm letting you go.
09:39Peeta.
09:40Please.
09:42Stay.
09:42It wasn't always clear what parts of their relationship were being played up,
09:46but we know this exchange was right from the heart.
09:49Number 21
09:50Peter Parker slash Spider-Man and Mary Jane M.J. Watson,
09:54Spider-Man.
09:55While there are tons of other Spider-Man kisses we love,
09:58we'd be remiss to give this entry to anything but Sam Raimi's iconic upside down smooch.
10:04You have a knack for getting in trouble.
10:06There's so much to love about this scene,
10:08and it's no wonder it's been cemented in pop culture history.
10:11It's pouring rain, Spider-Man has just saved MJ again,
10:16and she nearly made out his identity.
10:18Do I get to say thank you this time?
10:22Wait.
10:23All the quick action followed by this slow, soft scene makes us feel so much.
10:28Kudos to these two for managing to make something that could have been so awkward
10:31a romantic moment for the ages.
10:47Number 20
10:48Augustus Gus Waters and Hazel Grace Lancaster,
10:52The Fault in Our Stars.
10:54Almost from the very start, we knew that The Fault in Our Stars was going to be a tragic romance.
10:59Considering the two leads are both suffering from life-altering types of cancer,
11:03it should come as no surprise that there's no happily ever after here.
11:06Hello, my name is Hazel Grace Lancaster,
11:13and Augustus Waters was the star-crossed love of my life.
11:16But Augustus and Hazel do manage to share many magical moments together,
11:20one of which takes place in the unlikeliest of places, the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.
11:25I can't think about the misery, but about the beauty that still remains.
11:33Try to recapture the happiness within yourself.
11:36They share a kiss after being moved by Frank's experience,
11:39and the setting adds an extra layer of tragedy to an already devastating story.
11:44Number 19
11:45Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, Twilight.
11:48How did you get in here?
11:51The window.
11:51While Bella and Edward undoubtedly have the strangest courtship on our list,
11:55him admitting to watching her sleep is not exactly cute,
11:58the movie makes us look past that with their undeniable chemistry.
12:02After Edward sneaks into her room and admits his feelings for her,
12:05they get carried away in a passionate embrace after some intense anticipation.
12:10As things escalate, Edward throws himself across the room, telling Bella,
12:14I can't ever lose control of you.
12:15It's the line of all lines, and one of the most memorable moments of the series.
12:20Number 18
12:21Samantha Sam Button and Charlie Kalmekas, The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
12:26Whether you read Stephen Chbosky's emotionally effective book or just saw the movie,
12:31you know that The Perks of Being a Wallflower tugs at the heartstrings.
12:34You've never had a girlfriend? Not even like a second grade valentine?
12:39Nope.
12:39Have you ever kissed a girl?
12:41No.
12:42Charlie is understandably in awe of Sam,
12:45and in this scene she offers him an emotionally complicated kiss,
12:48saying she wants his first to be from someone who loves him.
12:51I know that you know I like Craig,
12:56but I want to forget about that for a minute, okay?
13:00Okay.
13:00There's a bittersweet quality here because this kiss is not meant to be the beginning of something,
13:04which is what Charlie clearly wants.
13:07Still, a kiss between two friends can be something truly special.
13:10I love you, Charlie.
13:15I love you too.
13:17Number 17
13:18Katie Heron and Aaron Samuels
13:20Mean Girls
13:21The primary storyline in Mean Girls isn't a romance,
13:24but rather a tale of the relationships between teenage girls.
13:27But the subplot involves Katie's interest in Aaron Samuels,
13:31who just so happens to be Regina's on-and-off boyfriend.
13:34Why do you wear your hair like that? Your hair looks so sexy pushed back.
13:38Katie, will you please tell him his hair looks sexy pushed back?
13:41While their relationship is complicated and Katie doesn't always go about things the right way,
13:45by the end, our protagonist is back to her normal self and ready to focus on treating Aaron right.
13:50How's your stomach now?
13:51It's fine.
13:53Do you feel nauseous at all?
13:55No.
13:55At the spring fling, the two share a dance and kiss
13:58after she makes things right with Janice and Damien.
14:01Number 16
14:02Josh Lucas and Cher Horowitz
14:04Clueless
14:05If you can't get past the fact that they're former step-siblings, which we definitely can,
14:10Josh and Cher are one of the most iconic teen movie couples of all time.
14:14You look like Pippi Longstocking.
14:16You look like Forrest Gump.
14:17While Cher spends much of Clueless trying to matchmake for others
14:21rather than focusing on her own romantic life,
14:23by the end, it's clear that she and Josh are meant to be.
14:26Oh my god.
14:30I love Josh.
14:32Although earlier in the story he has disdain for her and doesn't seem to quite get her,
14:36she eventually manages to impress him with her own specific brand of wits and kindness.
14:40The two kiss on her house's elaborate staircase, making for a memorable ending.
14:45Well, you can guess what happened next.
14:48As if!
14:50I am only 16 and this is California, not Kentucky.
14:53Number 15
14:54The Goodbye Kisses
14:56The Breakfast Club
15:02After a day spent in detention,
15:04nothing is the same for the rebellious teens of Shermer High School.
15:08They've all defied their expectations of one another
15:10and formed bonds that no one could have anticipated.
15:13I consider you guys my friends.
15:17I'm not wrong, am I?
15:18Before saying their goodbyes, Allison, the basket case, and Andrew, the athlete,
15:22share a slightly awkward smooch despite their very different social circles.
15:27Then Claire gives Bender one of her earrings as a symbol of her affection
15:30and the two embrace in a move that seemed incredibly unlikely just an hour and a half earlier.
15:38Number 14
15:42Lana Skinner and Bennett Russell
15:44Candy Jar
15:45This Netflix original movie is a classic tale of enemies becoming lovers.
15:49Lana and Bennett start out as competitors because they're both hell-bent on being
15:53the president of their high school debate club in order to get into Ivy League schools.
15:57I've participated and placed in more total events than he has, including the state tournament.
16:01I've also raised more money than she has for our program and for our school
16:04and for that lovely building across the way.
16:06You don't get to buy your way to the top with your mother's Rolodex.
16:08But as the movie progresses, they become friends, and while working together,
16:12they end up sharing a kiss just before the big state tournament.
16:15Bennett is left wondering what it meant because Lana prematurely ended the kiss.
16:19The debate is this weekend.
16:24In the end, however, it's clear that their relationship
16:26is more important to them than any competition.
16:29You think I like you?
16:30Well, damn it, you might be right.
16:36Number 13.
16:37Alex True Love and Elliot
16:39Alex Strangelove
16:40At first, Alex Strangelove seems like it's going to be a love story about Alex and his
16:44longtime bestie, Claire.
16:46Excuse me, sorry for spying. Is that a blue ring, Dr. Puss?
16:51Wow, you know your cephalopods.
16:54But Alex soon starts to question the identity he's built after meeting openly gay teen Elliot,
16:59who expresses clear interest in him.
17:01Sorry, I'm a little obsessed.
17:03That's okay. I like a guy with strong opinions.
17:08The first time they kiss, Alex reacts negatively and leaves in a huff.
17:12Over time, though, Alex does some deep introspection and realizes what he really wants.
17:16I invited him. I didn't think he'd mind.
17:19On prom night, with Claire's encouragement,
17:21Alex overcomes his fears and kisses Elliot in front of everyone.
17:24Look, Alex, I really don't...
17:26There have been a whole lot of prom night kisses in teen movies,
17:31but this one feels fresh and modern.
17:3412. Ellie Chu and Astor Flores
17:36The Half of It
17:37The Half of It is certainly an original love story, with high-achiever Ellie making extra
17:42money by writing love letters on behalf of ineloquent jock Paul.
17:46I just need a few words, good ones.
17:48I'm not writing to Astor Flores. To some girl.
17:51It'd be wrong. A letter is personal. It's supposed to be authentic.
17:54The thing is, though, the object of Paul's affection, Astor,
17:57also happens to be the girl who Ellie has a crush on.
17:59Though we don't get to see Ellie and Astor actually entering into a relationship,
18:03they do share a kiss after Ellie boldly initiates one.
18:07It leaves us on a hopeful note that the two may work something out in a couple of years after college.
18:17I'll see you in a couple years.
18:2011. Lainie Boggs and Zachary Zach Seiler
18:23She's all that.
18:24You know, I made that bet before I knew you, Lainie.
18:27When Zach, played by Freddie Prince Jr., foolishly made a bet to woo the school's
18:31resident artsy loner Lainie, played by Rachel Leigh Cook,
18:34he didn't think that he would actually fall for her. But of course he did. It's a rom-com.
18:39After she finds out about the bet and has her heart broken, Zach comes and finds her on prom
18:43night. He apologizes for his behavior and for ruining her big night. Lainie forgives him as
18:48the two dance in her backyard, and she gives him the kiss of a lifetime.
18:5310. Tessa Young and Hardin Scott After
19:04She took my hand and led me out of the darkness and showed me that whatever our souls are made of,
19:13hers and mine are the same.
19:15Anna Todd's novel After was a sensation when it was released,
19:19and the steamy adaptation garnered many new fans for Tessa and Hardin's story.
19:23This is certainly not a chaste high school romance, with the characters being slightly
19:27older college students. While there has clearly been sexual tension between our two protagonists
19:32earlier in the movie, it all comes to a head when Hardin takes Tessa to a lake,
19:35and they admit that there's no way they can be just friends.
19:38I thought that you just wanted to be friends.
19:41I don't think we can ever be just friends.
19:49The kiss they share is a passionate one that kicks off their relationship.
19:539. Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean Covey To all the boys I've loved before.
19:58All by yourself out here?
19:59Even though it only came out in 2018, the hot tub kiss in this Netflix phenomenon became an
20:04instantly iconic one in the teen movie hall of fame. While on a class ski trip, Lara Jean takes
20:10a chance and accepts Peter's risque invitation to hang out in the hot tub. Ever the good girl,
20:15Lara Jean jumps in the water wearing her nightgown. But she's ready to break the rules when
20:19Peter gives her a very steamy kiss that's even hotter than the water's temperature.
20:23This one definitely warrants an instant replay.
20:26There's no one like you, Covey.
20:308. Katerina Katt Stratford and Patrick Verona 10 Things I Hate About You
20:35We've never had as much fun watching two people who hate each other fall in love.
20:39Katt and Patrick have one of the best courtships in teen movie history,
20:42and their kiss at a paintball park is still one we want to recreate.
20:46Still showing off their rivalry, the couple played an intense game of smashing paint
20:50balloons on one another before falling in the hay and into each other's arms.
20:54But even after an extensive kiss, Katt was still on her A-game and smashed another balloon into
20:59Patrick's head after they broke apart. Playful and cute, this kiss is definitely the most fun
21:04on our list. 7. Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger
21:09Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
21:14We watched Hermione and Ron grow up over the course of eight movies,
21:17but at times it seemed like they'd never actually get together.
21:21But luckily for us, the high stakes of looking for Voldemort's horcruxes
21:24finally allowed these kids to act on their feelings for one another when they both moved
21:28in for a kiss. It was the culmination of everything we've been waiting for,
21:32and the moment was perfectly executed when they broke apart and laughed playfully.
21:36Their friendship and respect for each other shone, making the moment all the more romantic.
21:41The kiss in the book may have been even better, but who's counting?
21:466. Torrance Shipman and Cliff Pantone Bring it on!
21:53Popular head cheerleader Torrance and the alternative new kid Cliff didn't seem like
21:57they'd be a natural fit, but this odd couple is one of the best pairings. With their natural
22:02chemistry and bantery flirtation, it wasn't hard to root for them despite him being the brother of
22:07one of her squad mates. That's why it's so satisfying when Torrance finally kisses Cliff
22:11at the big cheer competition. We love to see our heroine take charge, and it felt both spontaneous
22:16and earned. She may have lost the trophy, but she got her man.
22:255. Samantha Sam Montgomery and Austin Ames A Cinderella Story
22:32A Cinderella Story starring Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray is a cult classic,
22:39and for good reason. Though it is a retelling of a romance story that we're all familiar with,
22:44there are plenty of twists and turns to keep us guessing. With Happily Ever After on the horizon,
22:49Sam confronts Austin about his behavior.
23:02At the big football game, he kisses Sam in front of everyone,
23:09affirming his feelings for her, despite their different social classes at school.
23:16Of course, this movie had to have a classic fairy tale ending.
23:204. Simon Spear and Abraham Bram Greenfeld Love Simon
23:25The setting can make or break how romantic a kiss is, so it's important to pick the right
23:30location to maximize the feels. At the end of the movie, Simon tells his mystery crush
23:35that he'll be waiting for him at the carnival, and the two meet on the Ferris wheel. It's the
23:39prime location for his crush to unveil his identity, since onlookers gather to see Simon
23:44lend his man. The movie plays up the tension, as his crush leaves Simon waiting until the last
23:49minute. But when his friend Bram shows up, it's worth the wait, and they share a steamy kiss
23:54while the crowd cheers. 3. Samantha Sam Baker and Jake Ryan
24:0316 Candles
24:10Everyone knows that a girl's 16th birthday is an important one. But for Molly Ringwald's
24:15character Sam, it was almost ruined by her family forgetting it was her big day,
24:19since it was overshadowed by her sister's wedding. But thank God for Jake Ryan,
24:23the adorably perfect jock who saved the day by rescuing Sam from the wedding.
24:28Jake topped himself further by getting her a birthday cake, and then giving her the kiss of
24:32a lifetime before she even blew the candles out. Jake proved that the most romantic gesture isn't
24:37always the grandest one, but the one that shows real thoughtfulness. We're still gushing at how
24:42sweet this one was. 2. Sam Coulson and Josie Geller
24:46Never Been Kissed Just like the Love, Simon kiss,
24:49but with even bigger stakes, the baseball field kiss from Never Been Kissed tugs at her heartstrings
24:54because of how vulnerable Josie is. After writing a newspaper article where she outs herself as
24:59being an undercover reporter, she invites Sam, the teacher she was crushing on, to give her
25:04the first kiss she's been waiting for in front of a huge crowd at a baseball game. It's a high
25:08pressure scenario, and just when it seemed like he wouldn't show up, he swoops in at the last second.
25:14The kiss is captured with a sweeping 360-degree shot, and it validated the inner Josie in us all.

25:351. Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet Romeo and Juliet
25:49Upon locking eyes with each other through a fish tank at a crowded costume party,
25:52it was game over for our 90s Romeo and Juliet. The doomed lovers had the most epic case of love at
25:58first sight. Romeo stole Juliet away for a moment of privacy and kissed her in an elevator. But that
26:04wasn't enough, and he later snuck outside her window, which led to an even more swoon-worthy
26:08kiss when they embraced in the pool. Everything about the sweeping sequence was lush and cinematic,
26:13and so convincing that it kind of made us believe in love at first sight too.
26:24Which kiss gives you nostalgia for high school romance? Let us know in the comments.
