00:00I just think maybe you should consider whether or not you feel you can deliver a kiss that kills."
00:07Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most impactful,
00:12meaningful, and or feel-good film kisses.
00:14"'And have my lips, isn't that they have took?'
00:17"'Sin for my lips? O trespass sweetly urged, give me my sin again.'"
00:23Number 30. Alex and Kate, The Lake House
00:27"'Wait two years, Alex. Come to the lake house. I'm here.'"
00:33In this unique romance, Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock prove that not even time can keep two
00:38people away if they're meant for each other. Their characters communicate via a special
00:42mailbox that sends letters through time.
00:45"'Possible, I know. Not possible. But it's happening.'"
00:49The ending finds Alex and Kate meeting up, turning their fantasy into a reality.
00:54It's wonderful to see this couple come together after so many twists and turns.
00:58"'You waited.'"
01:03Their kiss makes up for all the heartbreak in one meaningful meet-up.
01:07After seeing them separated for so long, the audience witnesses what might have
01:11seemed impossible before, giving this film a magical ending.
01:15Number 29. Paula and Zach, An Officer and a Gentleman
01:19"'You come here a lot?' "'I come here once in a while.'"
01:25"'I'm sorry I didn't call you this weekend. This whole week for me has been unbelievable.'"
01:31While going through officer-candidate school, Zach falls hard for local Paula.
01:35The naval recruit and the factory worker embark on a turbulent and intense relationship.
01:40"'Zach, am I your fantasy?' "'What?' "'No, I'm not gonna get serviced on it.'"
01:45"'How dare you not to fall in love with me? I mean, how can you resist him like candy?'
01:51"'You are better than candy.'"
01:56At the end of this iconic film, the hero tracks her down,
01:59kisses her, and sweeps her off her feet in one of the most romantic finales of the 1980s.
02:04It's especially satisfying to see them together after it seemed they were separated for good.
02:09"'Way to go, Paula! Way to go!'
02:19Richard Gere and Deborah Winger give career-defining performances,
02:22making you believe that this couple can really last.
02:25This kiss and the final shot of them leaving are a triumphant end.
02:30Number 28. Karen and Milton, From Here to Eternity
02:34"'I never knew it could be like this. Nobody ever kissed me the way you do.'"
02:39Talk about iconic romantic moments. In this Oscar-winning film,
02:42Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster's characters are hopelessly in love.
02:46Their feelings culminate in one of the most picturesque kisses ever captured on film.
02:51"'Well, on the other hand, I've got a bathing suit under my dress.'"
02:54"'Me too.'"
02:55The ocean waves wash over them as they're tangled up together,
02:58a striking image that serves as a great metaphor for their relationship.
03:02Parodied in other media, this scene in From Here to Eternity is almost
03:06more famous than the film that surrounds it. The kiss and the follow-up capture a
03:10relationship which will be challenged by the forces of history,
03:13giving them one blissful day before their lives change.
03:16"'What's the matter? What are you hinting at?'
03:20"'Why, is there something to hint at?''
03:22Number 27. Loretta and Ronnie, Moonstruck
03:25Both Cher's Loretta Castorini and Nicolas Cage's Ronnie Camareri are living troubled
03:30lives in Moonstruck. Their strange relationship eventually comes to a head in this scene,
03:34as Cage's character throws the kitchen table and makes out with Cher's heroine.
03:39"'Wait a minute! Wait a minute!''
03:45Played for laughs, the scene feels both ridiculous and oddly special. On the surface,
03:50their partnership isn't obvious, but this kiss makes the romantic tension ring true.
03:55"'I'm looking where I have to to become a bride!'
03:57"'A bride without a head!'
03:58"'A wolf without a foot!'
04:00It might seem absurd at first,
04:02but you come to realize that this unlikely duo deserves each other. You also have two
04:07outstanding performers breathing every ounce of charisma they can into the sequence.
04:11"'Where are you taking me?'
04:14"'To the bed.'
04:16"'Oh God. Okay, I don't care, I don't care. Take me, take me to the bed!'
04:21Number 26. Cat and Patrick, 10 Things I Hate About You
04:25"'Now there's a way to get a guy's attention, huh?'
04:27"'My mission in life. But obviously I struck your fancy so you see it worked.
04:33The world makes sense again.'"
04:36"'Pick up on Friday then.'"
04:37For this Shakespeare adaptation, Patrick gets paid to take out the unruly cat.
04:41Their romance blossoms despite all of the scheming behind her back,
04:45but it seems lost when she realizes the truth. The last scene has Heath Ledger's
04:49character apologizing with a gift, and the heroine kissing him in a hopeful end to the film.
04:53"'You can't just buy me a guitar every time you screw up, you know.'
04:57"'Yeah, I know. But then you know there's always drums and bass and maybe even one day a tambourine.'"
05:03You know somehow, deep down, that these two are made for each other. We can only hope that they
05:08stay in touch after high school. With two impressive actors anchoring this movie,
05:12their teen romance becomes something much more honest, believable, and nuanced.
05:17"'You are amazingly self-assured. Has anyone ever told you that?'
05:20"'I tell myself that every day, actually.'"
05:22Number 25. Keith and Watts, Some Kind of Wonderful. Keith falls for Amanda,
05:27but he doesn't understand that his friend Watts loves him. In one scene,
05:31the latter tries to help out her buddy by giving him lessons.
05:34"'If you say you can, you probably can.' "'Well, no, I'm no expert.'
05:39"'It's cool, I was just gonna work on it with you, but if you're comfortable, great.'
05:46"'Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. How, how do you work on it?''
05:52This gives way to one of the film's most memorable sequences, with the two friends
05:56sharing an intimate moment. It's clear that there's some complex feelings here,
06:00despite their long-standing friendship.
06:02"'What? What?' "'Lesson's over, you're cool.'
06:07"'You're blushing.' "'Yeah, right, the day I blush.'"
06:10Their love is confirmed at the end, but here is where it becomes clear that these two are
06:15something special. The chemistry is palpable between the two,
06:18and you'll likely be screaming from your seat to tell them.
06:21"'I'm sorry. I didn't know.' "'Yeah, well, you're stupid.'"
06:26Number 24. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, Pride and Prejudice
06:31In this adaptation of Jane Austen's classic story, Elizabeth Bennett goes through a whirlwind of
06:36emotions concerning Mr. Darcy.
06:37"'Might I ask why with so little endeavor and civility I must repulse you?'
06:41"'And I might as well inquire why with so evident a design of insulting me
06:44you chose to tell me that you like me against your better judgment.'"
06:46"'No, believe me, I didn't mean-' "'If I was uncivil,
06:48then that is some excuse, but I have other reasons, you know I have.'"
06:50As the film progresses, they reconnect, reconcile, and agree to marry. Darcy's return
06:56is an amazing moment in and of itself that sets up this important moment at the end.
07:00"'You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, and love, and love you.
07:06I never wish to be parted from you from this day on.'"
07:08They're destined to be together, and it's fantastic to see them finally kiss.
07:13It's also a relief as the dramatic plot pits them against each other for most of the runtime.
07:18As the two come together, true love feels possible at last, and the incredible setting
07:23enhances the emotion, ensuring the characters will spend an enchanted evening together.
07:27"'Mrs. Darcy.'"
07:38Number 23. Ennis and Jack, Brokeback Mountain.
07:42Ennis and Jack are kept apart by societal pressures and attitudes,
07:46but their feelings for each other cannot be denied.
07:48"'Oh, Brokeback, that is good, don't you?'
07:56"'What are we gonna do now?'
08:02"'I doubt there's nothing we can do.'"
08:04Reunited after several years apart, the moment when they kiss is a beautiful
08:08distillation of their longing and the difficulties they endure.
08:11Both Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal throw themselves into their roles and
08:15make sure that these moments feel especially authentic.
08:18"'I swear to God, I didn't know we was gonna get into this again.
08:24Oh, yes I did, I redlined it all the way, I couldn't get here if you guys didn't have it.'"
08:28You can tell that their characters are brimming with passion in this particular sequence.
08:32Adding to the importance of this kiss, Ennis' wife spots the couple.
08:36This presents a major turning point for the story,
08:38along with providing the characters with a much-needed outlet.
08:41"'So me and Jack, we're gonna head out and get ourselves a drink. Here you go.'"
08:46"'Turn off the police and make it, ma'am.'"
08:49"'We might not get back tonight when we get to drinking and talking and all.'"
08:52Number 22. Baby and Johnny, Dirty Dancing.
08:55Baby and Johnny have a special partnership in this 1980s classic.
08:59"'Go, go. Go, go. Close your eyes. Go. Go. Two, three, four. Two, three, four. Two, three, four.
09:13Two, three, four. Two, three, four.'"
09:16Dance is often used in films to indicate sexual attraction,
09:20and the chemistry these two exude as they dance together is undeniable.
09:23As an audience member, you're basically waiting for them to kiss right up until this moment.
09:29"'Dance with me.'"
09:33"'We're here?'
09:35"'Here.'"
09:36The scene also effectively utilizes choreography to heighten and enhance the inevitable moment
09:41when they connect. Both Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze bring a great physicality to the sequence,
09:46making this all the more satisfying when the inevitable happens.
09:50Just in case you forgot, this part reminds you why the movie is called Dirty Dancing.
09:56"'Don't you feel like a crime? Don't you feel like a crime?'
10:03Number 21. Buttercup and Wesley, The Princess Bride.
10:07"'Wave of love swept over them, and as they reach for each other…'
10:15"'What? What?' "'Nice kissing again. You don't want to hear that.'"
10:21"'I don't mind so much.'"
10:22After all of their struggles, Wesley and Buttercup finally reunite at the end of this
10:26fantasy adventure. It's especially gratifying to see them kiss given that they've each been
10:31in danger for most of the film. With Peter Falk's grandfather narrating the scene,
10:35the couple embraces one last time in a moving sequence that solidifies their love.
10:40"'Since the invention of the kiss, there have been five kisses that were rated the most
10:45passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind.'"
10:49The words that accompany this scene also add to the power of the moment.
10:53Described as a historical kiss, this storybook ending wouldn't be complete without the main
10:58characters finding happiness once more. It's everything that audiences could
11:02have wanted from a finale.
11:03"'Maybe you could come over and read it again to me tomorrow?'
11:09"'As you wish.'"
11:10Number 20. Tessa and Harden, After
11:13"'Tessa, let's just start over. Just reset and we can be…'
11:17"'What? Friends?'
11:19"'Why not?''
11:20Anna Todd's book After was a massive hit due to its steamy story and the couple at its center,
11:25Tessa and Harden.
11:27"'Welcome to my favorite place.'"
11:29The tale straddles the line between a young adult and grown-up story,
11:33with the characters being college students with a little more independence.
11:37"'I don't think we can ever be just friends.'"
11:56Tessa's intrigued by Harden, who has quite a reputation, to say the least.
12:01And their relationship comes to a head when Harden takes her on an outing to a lake,
12:05and they realize that their attempts at remaining just friends are going to be totally futile.
12:11Number 19. Frank and Rachel, The Bodyguard
12:21When Rachel finally learns more about Frank, an intimacy grows between the
12:25entertainment superstar and former Secret Service agent.
12:28"'A bodyguard must know very little peace.'"
12:31It shouldn't be romantic when Rachel starts swinging a samurai sword around,
12:36but the tension between these two characters has already been building for a long time.
12:53Frank shows off a trick where he uses the sword to slice Rachel's scarf cleanly in half,
12:58and then the pair finally embraces.
13:04We may have been a little upset that he cut up the scarf, but she can probably afford a new one.
13:11Number 18. Sam and Austin, A Cinderella Story
13:15There have been countless retellings of the classic fairy tale Cinderella,
13:19but this modern example has simply got to be one of our favorites.
13:28Starring Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray,
13:35A Cinderella Story has developed something of a cult following,
13:39and one of the reasons has to be the chemistry between the two leads.
13:51Even though we knew how this one was going to end,
13:53it's still a pleasure to watch Austin realize his mistakes and apologize to Sam.
13:58Eventually kissing her in front of everyone.
14:13Number 17. Jamal and Latika, Slumdog Millionaire
14:18It's easy to forget that back in 2008, Slumdog Millionaire was an absolute sensation,
14:24taking home eight Oscars and winning the hearts of many.
14:28You answered A, Ramis, which is, I have to tell you, the right answer!
14:42While much of the story revolves around Jamal's time on a game show,
14:45there's a love story at its core between him and his childhood friend Latika.
14:52At the film's conclusion, the two finally meet again on a train platform,
14:56with Latika saying that she thought that they would only be able to meet again in death.
15:14Their kiss is a passionate one, and it's followed up by a cheery Bollywood dance number.
15:19Number 16. Chiron and Kevin, Moonlight
15:27Moonlight is the stunning look at the life of a gay black teenager,
15:31showing us his life in three stages, childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.
15:42The film won the Academy Award for Best Picture for good reason,
15:45and one of the storylines that ties everything together is Chiron's relationship with Kevin.
15:55The two were childhood friends, but as they get older their relationship takes an undeniable shift.
16:04One night on the beach, they smoke a joint together and start talking intimately,
16:08with the end result being an unexpected kiss.
16:16Number 15. Josie and Sam, Never Been Kissed
16:30Josie didn't have a great high school experience, and it seems like things are poised to be even
16:35worse when she's given an assignment to go undercover as a student to report on the
16:39behavior of teenagers. She ends up developing feelings for one of her teachers, which is
16:51admittedly a bit confusing to say the least, because he thinks she's a teenager. But by the
16:57end they've cleared things up and he arrives in the middle of the baseball field to give her the
17:01kiss she's been waiting so long for. Most first kisses are awkward, but this is anything but.
17:16Number 14. Hannah and Jacob, Crazy Stupid Love
17:20In Crazy Stupid Love, Ryan Gosling plays playboy Jacob Palmer,
17:25who picks up girls without a second thought.
17:32Hannah, played by Emma Stone, soundly rejects him the first time he tries to take her home.
17:40But after she suffers a stunning rejection from her own boyfriend, she storms back to the bar
17:46where she first met Jacob and kisses him right in front of the girl he's chatting up.
17:50Gosling's bemused look when they finally pull apart makes this a perfect and hilarious movie moment.
18:11Number 13. Holly and Paul, Breakfast at Tiffany's
18:15Breakfast at Tiffany's is a classic romantic comedy that's managed to enchant viewers for
18:20generations. Much of the story focuses on Holly Golightly and her zany life,
18:28but her lack of openness to love is holding her back. She finally decides to let go and
18:39accept love into her life, even if it means losing the perceived freedom that she believes
18:44she has. She chases after Paul through the streets of New York in the rain as he looks for her cat,
18:50and when they finally find the poor slob, the couple shares a dramatic kiss.
19:03Number 12. Bridget and Darcy, Bridget Jones's Diary
19:08Bridget Jones's Diary tells the story of a woman who doesn't quite have her life in order.
19:21She dates the wrong guy, being hurt by cad Daniel Cleaver,
19:25but eventually finds herself with Mr. Right, Mark Darcy.
19:29She chronicles her adventures in her diary, but when Mark reads it and sees what she wrote
19:39about him before realizing he was the one, he leaves her alone in her apartment.
19:55She chases after him in the snow in her underwear,
19:58and when she finds him, realizes he was just out buying her a new diary for a fresh start.
20:17He really does love her just as she is.
20:20Number 11. Harry and Sally, When Harry Met Sally
20:28When Harry Met Sally is a classic of the romantic comedy genre,
20:31with so many movies released subsequently being compared to it.
20:45The story asks the question of whether men and women can ever be just friends,
20:49and in this case at least, that proves that to not be true.
20:58I love you.
21:00How do you expect me to respond to this?
21:03How about you love me too?
21:04Harry and Sally's friendship is messy, especially after they sleep together,
21:08but by the film's end Harry has realized that the relationship he wants has been
21:12right under his nose the whole time.
21:14I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody,
21:19you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
21:22His speech about why he loves her at the New Year's Eve party is adorable,
21:25and the kiss they share marks the start of their actual relationship.
21:45Number 10. Sam and Jake, 16 Candles
21:49Sam, played by Molly Ringwald, is primed to have just about the worst 16th birthday ever,
21:54when she realizes her entire family is too busy with her sister's wedding to give her any
21:59attention. On top of all that, she thinks the guy she has a crush on hasn't noticed her. But when
22:11she's least expecting it, Jake shows up on her sister's wedding day to sweep Sam off her feet.
22:20She ditches the reception to go back and have cake with him,
22:23and in the film's final moments they both lean in and kiss over the candles.
22:35Number 9. Lara Jean and Peter, To All The Boys I've Loved Before
22:40Despite the fact that To All The Boys I've Loved Before is one of the newest movies to feature on
22:44our list, it's quickly become something of a modern staple of the teen romance genre.
22:49What do I have to be scared about?
22:52You tell me, Covey.
22:55How do you tell your fake boyfriend you can't go skiing with him because you're starting to
22:59have real feelings? Lara Jean and Peter remind us of all those crazy feelings of adolescent love,
23:05and while their relationship starts off as a fake one,
23:08it clearly progresses into something very real.
23:11There's no one like you, Covey.
23:13On the school ski trip, they finally give in to their feelings, making out in a hot tub,
23:18in an incident that's unfortunately filmed for all their classmates to see.
23:36Number 8. Ron and Hermione, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
23:40Perceptive fans of the Harry Potter series saw the Ron and Hermione romance coming from a mile away.
23:47You do it. I can't. Yes, you can.
23:50These two had bickered and fought their way through the series like only two people who
23:54are destined to be together can. While their first kiss in the movies isn't quite as satisfying as
23:59its portrayal on the page, we still love finally seeing these two give in to their feelings.
24:04In the midst of all the danger and drama of the first kiss,
24:08in the midst of all the danger and drama of the Battle of Hogwarts.
24:16No house elves were saved, but the unbridled moment of passion is there just the same.
24:29Number 7. Will and Elizabeth, Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End
24:37Will you marry me?
24:40I don't think now's the best time.
24:43Getting married in the middle of a deadly battle isn't exactly what any of us dreams of,
24:48but in Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End, Will and Elizabeth take what they can get.
24:53I love you.
24:56Will proposes while the two are slaying their foes together,
24:59and they quickly convince Barbossa to officiate their union.
25:03Barbossa!
25:05Marry us!
25:06Despite the fact that he's a little bit distracted.
25:10Death kiss!
25:19The kiss they share when they're finally husband and wife is dramatic to say the least,
25:23as the waves splash over the ship and the fighting continues around them.
25:28Number 6. Han and Leia, Star Wars Episode V, The Empire Strikes Back
25:34Hey, your worship, I'm only trying to help.
25:36Would you please stop calling me that?
25:39The love triangle in the original Star Wars films is complicated just a bit
25:43by the fact that Luke and Leia are actually related.
25:47But by Empire Strikes Back,
25:48it's clear that the relationship we're supposed to be focusing on is between Leia and Han.
25:53Afraid?
25:54You're trembling.
25:56I'm not trembling.
25:58When the two finally lock lips, the moment has been a long time coming.
26:02I happen to like nice men.
26:04Nice men?
26:05Very nice.
26:10And fun fact, later in the movie,
26:11the script originally said that Harrison Ford was supposed to simply reply in kind
26:16when Leia said she loves him.
26:17But Ford found this didn't fit with his character
26:20and improvised the now iconic line instead.
26:24I love you.
26:26I know.
26:28Number 5. Simon and Bram, Love, Simon
26:32I'm going to tell my family.
26:33So thanks, Jacques.
26:35Love, Blue.
26:37Love, Simon is notable for being the first movie by a major studio
26:40to tell the story of a gay teen romance.
26:43And it does so with a perfect tone that balances humor with a tender-hearted plot.
26:47Simon has to contend with being outed while in high school,
26:50all the while falling in love with a mysterious guy he meets online.
26:54Okay, don't worry.
26:55I won't show anyone.
26:57Show anyone what?
26:59Did you print my emails or something?
27:03Oh, no, no, no.
27:05I, uh, I screenshot them.
27:07In the film's climactic moment,
27:09Simon asks Blue to meet him at the Ferris wheel.
27:12Can I sit there?
27:14I was kind of waiting for somebody.
27:17Yeah, I know.
27:18As everyone watches, Simon goes round and round alone,
27:22before Bram finally reveals himself to be Simon's online pen pal.
27:27Are you disappointed that it's me?
27:33No.
27:42The kiss they share makes viewers want to cheer,
27:45just like the crowd watching them.
27:47Number four.
27:48Peter and Mary Jane, Spider-Man.
27:51You have a knack for getting in trouble.
27:54You have a knack for saving my life.
27:56Peter Parker saves Mary Jane countless times in the Spider-Man movies,
28:00but this instance from the 2002 version of the story is the most memorable
28:04because of the steamy kiss that the two share.
28:06Do I get to say thank you this time?
28:08Spidey's hanging upside down when Mary Jane tries to thank him for protecting her.
28:13And while he, of course, doesn't want to take off his mask to reveal his identity,
28:17he lets her pull it down just far enough so that they can kiss.
28:20How many people tried making out upside down after seeing this one?
28:26Huh?
28:30We can't be the only ones.
28:32Number three.
28:33Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet.
28:37The tale of Romeo and Juliet is, of course,
28:40one of the best-known love stories in the Western canon,
28:42but Baz Luhrmann managed to make the story feel fresh and modern
28:46in his 1996 interpretation of the Shakespearean classic.
28:49I've knocked saints' lips and holy palmers' too.
28:53My pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer.
28:57After seeing one another through a fish tank at an elaborate costume party,
29:01Romeo and Juliet essentially fall in love at first sight
29:04and manage to evade prying eyes and steal a kiss in private.
29:16When Romeo later comes to Juliet's window and they go for a dip in her pool,
29:20they share an even more passionate embrace.
29:24Number two.
29:25Noah and Allie, The Notebook.
29:27The Notebook is a favorite in the romance genre
29:30because of the heartbreaking love story between Noah and Allie.
29:34I wrote you every day for a year.
29:36The two young lovers are separated and their romance quashed
29:39by Allie's mother who conceals Noah's letters from her.
29:43It still isn't over.
29:47When the two reunite years later,
29:49Allie asks why Noah never wrote to her.
29:51And he replies that he did.
29:54Every day.
29:59When they realize what happened, the moment is electric.
30:02The stormy weather already makes the moment a dramatic one.
30:06But you can't deny the chemistry these two share
30:08when they finally kiss after so long apart.
30:20Occasional videos or all of them.
30:22If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings
30:25and switch on notifications.
30:27Number one.
30:28Jack and Rose, Titanic.
30:31Titanic is one of the biggest movies of all time.
30:34And this scene is perhaps its most iconic moment.
30:43Jack and Rose's relationship has already taken off by this point in the story.
30:46But the scene on the edge of the ship's bow cements their romance
30:50as Rose finally admits what she truly wants.
30:59With the music for My Heart Will Go On providing the emotional backdrop,
31:03she flies over the ocean and Jack and Rose kiss.
31:06If you stop the movie here, we have a simple love story with a happy ending
31:10where no one has to die in the frigid North Atlantic.
31:13We can dream.
