00:00 We start to change our assessment now in the month of May. So after a full month of this MLB season in 2024, let's see where the markets stand in both of the pennant prices.
00:14 We start in the American League and the story Donnie has been the preseason favorites, the Houston Astros on a three game winning streak as of this moment, but still nine games below 500 at 10 and 19.
00:26 And they have seen their American League pennant price move back by nearly three bucks because of it. The Yankees have emerged as the favorites plus 320.
00:35 The Orioles, a dollar and a half of movement as well from plus 650 down to five to one.
00:41 The Rangers have remained the same. The Mariners virtually the same. The twins back by a buck, but virtually the same and $4 of negative movement against Toronto.
00:50 But again, the story is Houston. Would you buy into an Astros price here to start off May hoping they regress back to the mean and have a more successful MLB campaign from this point on?
01:03 You probably would want to because again, it's a six and a half game lead that the Seattle Mariners technically have over right now for the Houston Astros.
01:10 If they want to win that division, they don't have to win the division to make the playoffs.
01:13 You can still get a wild card spot, but maybe that could be their best angle. You can whittle that away and maybe gain a game and a half per month here.
01:20 And then you're looking at a great closeout in September. But there's too many good players on the Houston Astros to be this bad.
01:25 As you said, they've won three straight games here. Now, last night, you're not get usually the Houston Astros like, yeah, we win games four to three, four to one, four to two, because we have a great bullpen and great starting pitching.
01:35 And we have a very good one through seven or eight in our lineup on a day to day basis. It hasn't really factored into that.
01:41 So, yes, at this point right now, as much as bad baseballs we're getting out of the Houston Astros, it's not time to put them away because you got, as you said, May, June, July, August and September.
01:51 You have four full months to get this thing right. And what I mean, get it right is not play like eight hundred baseball throughout the summer.
01:57 Just call back. Be within two and a half games by the time you get to September and say, we have the pedigree to win this.
02:02 We'll get some of our pitchers back that will be healthy around that time. And away you go.
02:06 So if I'm looking at the Houston Astros, there's still a bye team here and maybe it would be different if they were on another losing streak here.
02:12 But good to see him finally win some games here to get that positive momentum back.
