00:00 In Florida, clinics like this one are bracing for the impact of a stricter abortion law
00:05 which prohibits the procedure after six weeks before many know they are pregnant.
00:10 According to this fertility specialist, the restrictions will disproportionately affect
00:14 people of colour who have other children or can't take time off work.
00:19 At the end of the day, people who have means, people who have money and resources and time
00:23 will fly to Chicago or fly to New Jersey and New York to get their pregnancies terminated.
00:29 I mean, plain and simple.
00:31 But we're really going to see a problem with people who have less resources.
00:36 There are some exceptions to the ban, like in the case of rape, incest or human trafficking,
00:41 but only up to 15 weeks and the pregnant woman must provide documentation as proof.
00:47 Abortions are also allowed if there's a fatal fetal anomaly, as certified in writing by
00:52 two doctors and before the third trimester.
00:55 As well as if the woman's life is at risk or she faces substantial and irreversible
00:59 physical impairment.
01:02 Florida voters will have a chance to reverse the six-week limit in a referendum that will
01:06 coincide with November's election.
01:08 Recent ballot measures protecting abortion access have passed with overwhelming support
01:13 in both conservative and swing states from Kansas to Michigan.
01:18 Florida's abortion law has turned it into a crucial battleground for the presidential
01:22 vote.
01:23 "Now he's worried the voters will hold him accountable for saying he's responsible for
01:26 getting Roe v. Wade overturned.
01:28 Folks, the bad news for Trump is we are going to hold him accountable."
01:35 Florida is one of several states that have introduced bans since the US Supreme Court,
01:40 featuring three justices appointed by Donald Trump, revoked the nationwide right to abortion
01:45 in 2022.
01:47 In an interview with Time magazine published Tuesday, Trump said abortion should be a state
01:52 issue, seeking a more cautious stance on the topic amid an increasingly polarized electorate.
