Kawhi Leonard and Doc Rivers had high praise for Landry Shamet after he went off for a playoff career-high 18 points in Game 3.
Transcript
00:00 After coming off the bench in each of the other Clippers first two playoff games, Landry
00:04 showed up at the start in game three and he made the very most of that opportunity.
00:08 The 23-year-old guard would offer a playoff career-high 18 points on 7 of 13
00:13 shooting from the field and 3 of 7 with 3-point range in 27 minutes of action.
00:18 While he's not really known for his defense, he had a solid out and out of the
00:22 floor as well picking up a steal and a block. After the game, Dr. Rivers said
00:27 "I thought Landry was fantastic. He's gonna play off of Kawhi and PG and let the
00:32 game come to him. With Sham on the floor, you just can't leave him because he can
00:35 make shots." Sham's presence worked wonders for LA's starting group. Because he's
00:40 such a dangerous player to leave unguarded beyond the arc, he helped free up
00:42 players like Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Marcus Morris for easy looks from
00:47 beyond the arc. That trio still only went 6 of 17 from 3, but on most nights more
00:52 of those shots will fall. Leonard was equally in process to stand up to big game,
00:56 highlighting his short memory and willingness to get downhill, saying
00:59 "He took pride in his defense tonight. He didn't want to make mistakes and
01:03 even when he made them, he put them behind him. He was aggressive going
01:06 offensively. His three-pointers started falling. I think he did well."
01:10 Shamit's biggest moment of the game came on the second quarter. He drove for the
01:14 rim and went up and over Boban Marjanovic, dunking on the 7-footer and
01:18 drawing a foul in the process. This is one of the most impressive things I think we've
01:22 seen this season. Shamit is 6'4", 190 pounds. Boban Marjanovic is 7'4" and
01:29 290 pounds. So after showing out in Game 3, the Clippers may need Shamit to be
01:34 just as good in Game 4. There's a chance LA will be with Apache Grevely once
01:38 again, meaning Shamit will probably draw the start in his second game in a row. If
01:43 that hasn't been the case, look for Shamit to keep momentum going as the Clippers
01:47 try to take a 3-1 lead in the series.
