00:00The LA Clippers will spend much of their offseason looking at ways to improve upon the current roster
00:04and rightfully so. LA was knocked out in the second half of this year's playoffs by a resilient
00:08Denver Nuggets team and as the franchise enters what could be the final year of Kawhi Leonard and
00:13Paul George's partnership in Southern California, it can't afford to make any mistakes. Now contrary
00:18to popular belief, the Clippers don't need to blow everything up. Sure, they're a play to get
00:22better off without, but they're also something that the franchise must prioritize bringing back
00:26from the run next year. One such player is Jameichael Green, who is arguably LA's most
00:31consistent performer off the bench throughout the entirety of the postseason. He checks in just
00:35behind Ibiza's Zubats and Kawhi Leonard in rebounds per 36 minutes, effected on an efficient 43.5%
00:41clip from three-point range, and gave us about as much effort as anybody else in LA's Game 7 loss
00:46to Denver. And it's not like that was a coincidence really either. That's the player Green has been
00:51all season long and had he received more minutes in the Clippers second round series against Denver,
00:55there's a chance that LA would still be playing basketball right now. Performance aside,
00:59Green's presence on the roster is of importance simply because of the skills that he provides.
01:03He's the fourth tallest player on the team at six feet eight inches, which is a bit surprising,
01:07and his ability to excel both in and out of the paint lets him play multiple positions on offense
01:12and defense. With Clippers playing with the five, for example, their options on both ends really
01:17open up as they can go five out on offense. They don't have to worry about giving up size and
01:20physicality on defense. Now unfortunately for LA, other teams have recognized Green's tremendous
01:26value, and according to Athletic Champs Gerania, he's going to have more than a few suitors this
01:30offseason. Green agreed to a very team-friendly deal last summer to turn to LA, signing a two-year
01:36contract worth roughly five million dollars annually. He has a player option for the second
01:41year of his deal, which is this offseason, and if he does opt out of the unrestricted free agent
01:45again this year. At Green's asking price, there's hardly a better big in the NBA, especially
01:50considering how dry this year's pool of quality free agents is. So keeping him in LA will be
01:55paramount with the Clippers in the coming months.
