00:00Klipper's assistant Tyronn Lue reportedly met with the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday
00:04in regards to their open-ticket coaching position according to Athletic Shams Taranian.
00:08Now Lue doesn't have a history with New Orleans, however he does have strong ties to certain
00:11members of the front office, most notably David Griffin who served as the general manager
00:15for Cleveland Cavaliers, one who helped guide them to a championship in 2016.
00:20Top brass aside, the Pelicans gig is as desirable as any other job on the market right now.
00:24New Orleans is going to have the draw of Los Angeles for example, both young stars like
00:27Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram on the roster, the Pelicans are well set up to have
00:31a bright future.
00:32Now Lue is also set to talk with Houston Rockets about their coaching vacancy as well, though
00:36it's unclear if they'll be meeting soon according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
00:40Houston features plenty of star power as well with former MVPs in James Harden and Russell
00:44Westbrook on the roster.
00:46Now Lue was also considered for Philadelphia's opening before the franchise hired former
00:49Klipper's coach Doc Rivers on Thursday, he was considered to be one of the main guys
00:54in that mix, along with former Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni, that's now off the table.
00:59Lue is still expected to be the frontrunner to replace Rivers in Los Angeles however,
01:02though Wojnarowski says that is not a foregone conclusion, Klippers will interview several
01:07candidates for the job, it would come as a surprise if he or the hire was made so suddenly.
01:12After a disappointing postseason, LA will have high expectations for 2021, whoever replaces
01:16Rivers whether it's Lue or Jeff Van Gundy or someone else, must be able to deal with
01:21significant pressure and deliver when the moment comes.
