Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn disputed the idea that a lack of passion contributed to Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Raiders.

00:00 We've had a lot happening that stings in a lot of ways. So just having to
00:04 losing season season stings and stinks too. So yeah, we're frustrated about
00:09 that, but it's nothing we can do about that right now.
00:11 Well, since you brought it up, yeah, you know, but uh, that's just our
00:20 record is what it is. You know, we got another divisional rival this weekend
00:25 in Kansas City and we're getting ready to go. Try to get a win in our division.
00:30 After the game yesterday, Melvin Gordon said he thought the offense didn't
00:34 have passion at the start of the game. Did you sense that at all? Like when
00:38 you start out with two penalties, you know, it's a slow start. The first
00:43 three drives with three and out. That wasn't good. Uh, it wasn't lack of
00:49 passion, lack of execution. And, uh, I tell Melvin the same thing
00:53 on their first touchdown. Uh, retro.
00:59 I never saw a good replay.
01:01 Did Desmond just miss the tackle? Desmond missed the tackle there and
01:05 Desmond kind of pushed him trying to make the tackle and knock ratio off. So
01:11 uh, you know, I race a tackle. A ration was out of position as well. But that
01:15 was that was on Desmond.
01:17 How do you feel like Jerry? I thought Jerry played his best game yesterday.
01:22 I thought he played hard. He penetrated and made some plays in the backfield.
01:27 He may not have gotten credit for some of those sacks, but he was he was in
01:30 the mix.
01:31 What's been the one thing that's changed for him from early in the year
01:37 to how he played in that last game? I think, you know, his his motor has been
01:42 fine all year. It's just learning what we're doing and defeating double teams
01:47 or just holding your ground on double teams, you know, a little better. He's a
01:52 tall man is very long. So learn to play with leverage in National Football
01:56 League. That's been a process.
01:57 Did he miss a lot by having a shoulder injury and being out during the spring?
02:02 Do you feel like you may be a little bit ahead of where he is now? You know,
02:05 yeah, I'm sure if he had been around with the shoulder, if the shoulder was
02:08 healthy and he could have trained like everyone else was training, I'm sure
02:12 that slowed him down some, but he seemed to be all the way back right now.
02:15 Like DJ had his best game since coming back to here. You start to see. I
02:20 thought, Yeah, I thought DJs played well. Every game has been back to be
02:24 honest with you. I love his motor, his demeanor. It doesn't matter what the
02:28 score is. He's just taking it one play at a time. He's giving it everything
02:31 he's got
02:32 in terms of the running game. The struggles that you guys had in the
02:35 running game. How much of that was just missing Russell?
02:37 You know, when you don't have Russell, you don't have policy. Yeah, you miss
02:42 both of those guys, but we still can run the football. Uh, we got away from
02:47 the running game the second half because we got down by two scores and the way
02:50 the time and possession was going. We had to open the office up and just
02:53 throw it to get it down the field. But I think six of our carries was short
02:57 yards and goal line and one might have been a kneel down. So we didn't run the
03:01 ball that much yesterday. But the times we did early, they did a good job of
03:05 stepping up and running run stumps and getting in certain defenses to stop the
03:10 run. And so we lost a lot of one on ones and we do better right there.
03:14 When you look at what you guys did in Jacksonville and how you ran the ball
03:17 there versus what happened yesterday. How do you reconcile that? Where you
03:20 can do what you did in Jacksonville and how to game? We did. I mean,
03:24 Jacksonville, we knew we had a formula to beat that team. Get up on, get up on
03:28 that team by two scores. We didn't feel like they was built to come from behind.
03:31 And once you get up on a team like that, it can snowball. But yesterday
03:35 that was kind of us. They have two scores on us and we struggled to get
03:38 back in the game. So
03:39 you get a win. KC. Is that at all? You know, it helps anytime you win. It
03:46 creates confidence and momentum. So yeah, every way it helps. There's a
03:51 moment at the end of the first half where you guys ran a play before the
03:54 two minute morning and you could have let the clock run down to the two
03:57 minute morning. Was there a reason that you ran a play there? Absolutely. It
04:00 gives you more options right there because if I want to pass the ball
04:03 there, I can't. The class is gonna stop in five seconds anyway.
04:06 Uh, you had a tire rod in there for the play.
04:10 Read off not a short guard situation. We weren't able to get it. Um, in those
04:16 situations where he's been in there for a play here, play there, is he just
04:20 not getting enough rest? We're able to have success in those. You know, those
04:23 players are like hit and miss because you don't know exactly what you're
04:26 gonna get when that quarterback goes into the game. You know, one time he
04:29 goes into the game on a trick play and their deal was to go knock him down and
04:33 they did, you know, against Jacksonville, you know, he made some
04:37 yards. We stayed in the game. But yesterday they did a good job of
04:41 playing. Blitz zero. They brought the safety out of the middle of the field,
04:44 something that we weren't prepared for, and they stopped the play. You know,
04:47 they made a great call at the right time.
