00:00Okay, I think you guys saw in practice today, we had our first big situation of
00:04football where coaches were off the field, we had a little move the ball, a
00:07little red zone activity, so that was good. I think it's always, you know, at
00:11this time when you get three or four practices in, just for the coaches to get
00:14out the field, see how they operate with no coaching taking place on the field
00:19is always good, especially for those younger players. So, you know, I think it's
00:22one of those things where you go back and forth. We're seeing some young guys
00:25make some plays, our older guys seem to be, you know, the recall has been pretty
00:29good, so we just got to keep adding to it.
00:33What's that? He's doing a good job. He's doing a good job. We're rotating him at
00:38some different positions at the linebacker spot just to get him a feel,
00:42so he'll rotate based on the day. You know, we're trying to give him the more
00:47that he can do, you know, that mentality, give him more options to get on the
00:51field. He's been doing a good job. You see him back here today in practice, he
00:58made a couple good plays, and then, you know, one that he's got to learn from, you
01:01know, it's like back and forth, but more good than bad. So, I think it's a whole
01:05new system compared to what he had in college, whole new position. So, there's
01:09some growing pains right there, but the progress he's making at this point, we're
01:13pretty pleased.
01:19He made a great play yesterday, great play that showed that ball hocking. You
01:24know, one of the things we asked from that free safety position is ability to
01:27have a lot of range, cover a lot of ground, but also to make that tackle.
01:31That's, I think, we also need to see his angles and approach. He had a couple
01:35today that he can work on, but I think when we get in the scrimmage situation
01:39too, we get more, you know, against the ramps, you get a chance to check that out,
01:43but definitely has the space to cover from red line to red line.
01:51Yeah, Raishan, you know, has been here for a couple years, so he understands the
01:55position and, you know, he's coming to play with a lot of confidence. I think
01:59it helped him at the end of the year where he played a couple games at that
02:02position, so that's kind of carried over. So, you know, be a competition throughout.
02:13He has. You can see, you know, there's players that when they're out there,
02:18they're thinking quite a bit. So, you can't tell really just how fast are they
02:22thinking quite a bit, but I've seen him, like yesterday, the play I was talking
02:26about, where you saw him not thinking, just play, and his athleticism. So, that's
02:30on us as coaches to continue to help him learn so he gets to that point.
02:37Well, I thought Melvin Ingram. I mean, we had the first play of team run and did a
02:42really good job, kind of set the tone for the defense, and, you know, he had a
02:47good day today, I thought. So, our rush, you know, is improving. I think to have
02:51Joey and Melvin back in there, and then some rush with JJ in there. So, you know,
02:55that continues to be something that we're evaluating closely, but, you know, I
02:58thought he had a particularly good day.
03:03You know what? Here he had such a good year for us last year, you know, to come in and you
03:07never got it. You know, we talk about in our meetings, and his approach to the
03:11game, how he attacks it, it's just like he's a rookie again. He just absorbs all
03:16the information, and he really wants to be good now, really wants to be good. So,
03:20you know, we'll continue to try to do some different things with him and
03:23utilize his skill set.
03:28He's out there in practice now, doing some stuff with gifts. So, you know, he's
03:32doing good. When I talk to him, you know, he seems to be coming along really good.
03:35So, we'll just progress him as they tell us.
03:40Yeah, I really, it's kind of day to day when they tell me, you know, and then we
03:44just operate based on that, but, you know, hopefully they keep telling me, keep
03:48pushing them.
03:51Yeah, Rayshawn was a guy that was a played, you know, we didn't really know
03:56what to do as far as position wise with him. He played strong safety when we
03:59first draft him. Then we, you know, and then he was about 215 or so. Then we
04:03thought, well, maybe he's our dime linebacker, you know, maybe then he got
04:07up to like 28. Should we get him up to 220? You know, and then at the end of
04:10the season, he played free safety. He's a little heavy, but now we locked him in
04:13the free safety. Now his weight is right around 200. So, I think it's been good
04:17for him, that transition. He's kind of locked into, all right, here's my
04:20position. Here's what I'm competing for. And he's really changed his body in a
04:24good way and his explosiveness and things. So, that's required out of that
04:28position. So, give him credit on that.
04:35He really is. You know, I think his feel for the game brings out even more
04:41athleticism. You know, his ability to key the quarterback, make plays, but
04:45he's really a physical. He's a strong safety mentality. So, he has that
04:48physical nature that we're looking for as that middle field safety. And then he
04:52does have the speed. You know, he's got good instincts back there. So, you know,
04:56we're optimistic on his growth so far.
