LA Clippers big Joakim Noah explains why he chose to wear "Justice" on the back of his jersey.
Transcript
00:00As much as the NBA restart is about basketball, it's also about making a statement about social justice,
00:05something a majority of the league's players have been very vocal about.
00:08Now that the seeding game has officially started, some players have begun to wear phrases in plays that last from the back of their jerseys.
00:13At a Clippers big, Joaquin Noé is one of 12 players in the roster to replace his name with a statement.
00:19He chose justice.
00:20On Sunday, Noé took to Instagram to explain why he chose that specific phrase instead of one of the other league-approved statements, saying,
00:26that a lot of people in the streets fighting for it. All my heroes have been fighting for it.
00:31This isn't a political statement. This is about human rights. This is about basic human rights.
00:35I'm a privileged man, but I won't turn my back on the truth. I'm proud to play my part.
00:39We're competing, but I'm proud of the guys who are pushing for justice.
00:42Noé was the only Clippers player to wear justice on his jersey.
00:45The most popular phrases among the team include, how many more, equality, and I am a man.
00:50Despite making his early Clippers debut just weeks ago, Noé has been a steady presence both on and off the court for LA.
00:56The 35-year-old has appeared in both of the team's seeding games thus far, averaging 2.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist in 8.5 minutes per game.
01:04His energy, basketball IQ, and decision-making have helped him stand out among the team's bigs.
01:09With six seeding games before the postseason begins, I expect Noé to maintain his role until Montreux's hero returns to the bubble.
