00:00L.A. Clippers guard Patrick Beverley will miss Wednesday night's contest with the Dallas Mavericks,
00:04according to Doc Rivers. Beverley was initially considered questionable to play due to a calf
00:09injury, which has now cut him out of six of L.A.'s last seven games. Rivers has previously said that
00:14this is not a severe injury by any means, but the team will take a cautionary approach moving
00:18forward. Ahead of game two, Rivers told media, quote, at shootaround you could just see he wasn't
00:23moving well, so we scratched him. After missing five consecutive games, Beverley returned to action
00:28on Monday night for game one. In 20 minutes, he recorded eight points, five rebounds, two steals,
00:33and an assist, and played strong defense on the stretch. Rivers wouldn't say who'd be replacing
00:37Beverley in the starting rotation, but Reggie Jackson's typically been the go-to guy for him,
00:41a role that he's been inconsistent with in the bubble so far. Rivers said, quote, he's just been
00:47up and down. On his good nights, I think he's very solid defensively. On his bad nights, he tries to
00:52force things. He takes a step back defensively, so we need the one that really sets his tone
00:55defensively. Jackson swelled up the bench in game one, going over five from the field in 16 minutes
01:01of play. He'll need to be more consistent on both ends of the floor on Wednesday if he does, in fact,
01:06get the start in Beverley's place. In addition to Jackson, look for Landry Shammott and Terrence Mann
01:11to see more time on the floor in Beverley's absence. Shammott, a sharpshooter, is capable of
01:14knocking down quick buckets from anywhere on the court, while Mann is known for his two-way presence
01:19and ability to stop the stat shoot. The Clippers need to play a much more disciplined game on
01:23defense than in the lineup, but game two is one that this team can still win. L.A. and Dallas will tip off at
01:29approximately 9 p.m. Eastern time on TNT and Fox Sports Prime Ticket.
