Patrick Beverley to Miss Game 3

LA Clippers guard Patrick Beverley will be out for Game 3 against the Dallas Mavericks.

00:06Beverly, who will miss his second game in a row in this series, was officially listed

00:10as doubtful heading into tonight's contest.

00:12Doc Rivers previously said that he would likely be a game-time decision, but has since clarified

00:16his status, saying, quote, he's not available today.

00:19He's getting better, I guess, would be the best way to phrase it.

00:22Rivers wouldn't say who'd be starting in Beverly's place, but did note that Landry

00:26Shamit would play more in Game 3, saying, quote, Landry just needs to play more and

00:31needs more timing.

00:32He missed basically the entire camp due to COVID and the impact of that.

00:36We're just trying to get him right.

00:37He's close, I can tell you that, and he'll play more tonight.

00:41Reggie Jackson got the starting nod in Game 2, but it's hard to see that happening again

00:45given his and the team's performance in that game.

00:48Jackson's starting group struggled to produce offensively in the first quarter of Wednesday's

00:51contest and he was negative on defense all night long.

00:54He did manage to knock down three triples in a row at one point in the game, but otherwise

00:58shot one of the six from the floor.

00:59Shamit, on the other hand, played 18 minutes and logged two points, two assists, and a

01:04rebound.

01:05It seems that Beverly could be back in the lineup soon, hopefully as soon as Sunday's

01:09can participate in Game 4, but it's hard to say exactly when at this point.

01:13One thing is for sure, though, and that's that LA has struggled all season without Beverly

01:16in the rotation, and the team must find a way to survive without him if they're going

01:19to win this series.
