SI's Bri Amaranthus and Chris Halicke discuss the Texas Rangers games to look forward to in the 2020 MLB eason
Transcript
00:00 This season will be the first season that the Texas Rangers get to play on their new
00:04 Globe live field and if you're like me you've circled some of the games on the schedule already
00:10 And of course because of the coronavirus the schedule is in flux
00:13 We do not know what's ahead of us likely a shortened season
00:17 But I'm always looking for a fun player matchup some rivalries or cool promotions like the powder blue Sunday giveaway
00:24 Where the Rangers will be wearing their new powder blue uniforms on home games on Sundays and lots of powder blue giveaways
00:31 So Chris
00:32 What are some of the matchups and some of the games that fans should circle on the schedule and then of course?
00:38 Change the schedule once we get a new one. What are some of those that you're looking at?
00:42 You know when it comes to the Major League Baseball schedule we don't quite know how it's going to look
00:48 Especially you know, especially because we don't know when the season is going to start
00:53 But you know best-case scenario if it starts in June
00:56 There's definitely going to be some doubleheaders
00:57 but you know when it comes to games to look forward to I was
01:01 You know really excited to see the first time that the Rangers and Indians played just because that's Corey Kluber's former team
01:08 And you know, he's a two-time Cy Young winner with them
01:11 And you know if he's closer to the 2018 version of himself
01:14 Then that's going to be a very interesting matchup and see how the Indians react to him because he pitched for them for so long
01:21 And he pitched so well for them for so long
01:24 Another one was the first time that the Astros were going to come to to global I feel you know come
01:30 You know into town and you know before all of this coronavirus stuff started
01:34 You know the the main thing was going to be you know
01:36 How are crowds going to react to the Astros every time they go on the road?
01:40 You know are they going to be booed or there are they going to you know how or how bad it?
01:44 if or when they're gonna be booed but how badly they were going to be booed and
01:49 Obviously with the Rangers and Astros being such big rivals
01:52 it was very possible that that was going to happen and that the the booze were going to be emphatic and now that
01:59 We've had this whole coronavirus shutdown, you know, our crowds going to ease up a little bit
02:04 So that's definitely gonna be another one to watch for and I think most
02:07 You know the the game that everyone is going to be looking forward to is the first one
02:11 when that first game actually happens the excitement for it is going to be off the charts because
02:17 You know this Tuesday March 31st was supposed to be the home opener at this new beautiful ballpark
02:23 We were all looking forward to it
02:25 the excitement for it was already
02:28 Just already
02:31 Immeasurable and now and that we don't have baseball and we don't have baseball for at least a couple of months
02:38 That that first game is going to be filled with a lot of excitement
02:42 It doesn't matter if it's on the road or if it's at you know at global I field
02:47 I know I'm excited for it. I'm excited for the baseball season to start
02:51 So I know fans are definitely excited for that first game when it finally gets here
