00:00Hi there. I'm Matt Martell, baseball writer at Sports Illustrated. I'm joined today by
00:04Tampa Bay Rays pitcher and 2018 Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell. Blake, how you doing today?
00:09I'm good, man. How you doing?
00:11I'm good. So I wanted to ask you about the Snell Show, which you got coming,
00:15starting pretty soon. You had a judge on there last week, Aaron Judge, and you guys made headlines
00:20for talking about scouting reports and seeing if you could get a little edge from Aaron. Is that
00:25kind of what we should expect from the Snell Show and who you got coming up next?
00:30Yeah. I don't know if you should expect that or suspect that, I should say.
00:35Yeah, but I got a good guest coming next Thursday, 8 p.m. Eastern. It'll be Cody Bellinger,
00:43so you're the first to hear it. That'll be a lot of fun, but it's all different. I'm trying to get
00:49it to where it's different questions, fun questions, but more so just see how the baseball guys act,
00:58interact, and just kind of keep it fun and loose. And being able to talk to Judge,
01:04and that'd be my first guy to talk to. He's one of my best friends in baseball, so it was fun to
01:10be able to mess with him and see his funny side. So I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do
01:16when Cody's on this Thursday. Yeah, no, that sounds good. Now,
01:20when did you get the idea to do the Snell Show? Was it something you'd been thinking about for
01:24a while and this just became the right time? It just got brought to me. So with me streaming as
01:30much as I do, MLB was like, would you be interested in going live on our Instagram?
01:36And I said, of course, and I'd love to. And they said, okay, what do you want to do? We started
01:41talking, and then they came up with the Snell Show, and I said, okay, sure, let's do it. And
01:46then, yeah, and I was like, first person I want to talk to is obviously Judge. He's one of my
01:51closest friends in baseball. So being able to have him made it super easy for me to do,
01:56and it was a lot of fun. And a lot of the feedback that I got was pretty amazing. So
02:02I'm excited to keep it going and hopefully branch out of baseball, but starting baseball
02:07with the Snell Show and then branch out into other sports and stuff like that.
02:13So I just wanted to ask you about the MLB The Show tournament. I believe it begins Friday.
02:18What are you expecting from that? Have you been practicing? And are you any good?
02:24Yeah, so we have the tournament. The tournament started last, I think, Friday or Saturday.
02:30I played four games. I went two and two. Gallo is an absolute beast, but he says he's not.
02:37And then I gave up one run to the other three guys, and I lost to Amir 1-0 on a bunt. So Amir
02:45needs to start practicing his hitting, obviously. And then I ended up beating McCullers and Rodriguez
02:53for the Red Sox. So that was fun. But yeah, overall, I mean, my skills are pretty good.
02:59I think we're playing on veteran difficulty, which is no fun. But the tournament itself is
03:06a lot of fun. The way that we get to talk to each other and compete against each other,
03:12that's a lot of fun, too. So I would say the tournament is going great, especially from a
03:17standpoint of just communication with each other, fans and people that love baseball,
03:23being able to really see the players interact with one another, and then the banter that goes
03:28along with that. I mean, it's pretty amazing. And I'm definitely, I feel lucky to be in it.
03:33And yeah, no, I'm looking to win this thing.
