1966 FA Cup Final - Everton v Sheffield Wednesday (1st half)

1966 was the year that England won the World Cup in dramatic fashion, but there was an equally dramatic Final in the FA Cup, as Everton faced Sheffield Wednesday. Both sides had last won the cup in the 1930's - Everton in 1933, and Wednesday in 1935 - and were desperate for a cup trophy. The Sheffield club had finished runners up to Spurs in the league in 1961 but had recently suffered a scandal when three of their players had been suspended for match fixing allegations, which had affected their league form. Everton had been league champions in 1963 but were now midtable and had done well to get to the final without conceding a goal, the first side since Bury in 1903, beating both Manchester clubs on the way. But it was also their first final in 33 years since they won it and despite their defensive record it was Wednesday who took an early lead against the Toffees when Jim McCalliog opened the scoring for the Owls. It set the game up to be an all out attacking affair in what would prove an intriguing and exciting first half...
