00:00 -Hi. -Hi.
00:02 Hi. I'm Caitlin.
00:04 I'm so excited to chat today.
00:06 I love the series, I have to say.
00:09 I-- It's truly not at all what I was expecting,
00:12 but I think that people really love that about it.
00:16 And I also just really loved the characters.
00:18 I mean, they have, like, so much depth to each of them,
00:22 which is why I wanted to go to both of you
00:24 and just ask if you could name kind of a character trait
00:27 from your character that you really admire.
00:30 I almost love Nico's no-fur Lorraine.
00:34 She says what's on her heart, what's on her sleeve.
00:37 Whether it's right or wrong, she knows what she wants to say,
00:41 and she says it with her chest.
00:43 Yeah. I think Crystal's got, like, a--
00:45 She kind of goes toe-to-toe with a lot of the scary things
00:48 that happen in this show, which I quite--
00:50 Like, I really admire that.
00:52 And if someone's in trouble, she's there,
00:54 which I like. Reliable. Reliable, yeah.
00:58 Honestly, even, like, I don't want to spoil too much,
01:00 but towards the end, there's a time where she's like,
01:03 "You know, I'm gonna do it myself," and just runs off.
01:05 And I was like, "Oh, period."
01:07 I love that for her. She's so awesome.
01:10 So awfully loved.
01:14 And I also just-- I have to say I loved the sprites
01:18 and interacting with them.
01:19 I just want to know how that went with you, Yu-Yu.
01:21 I mean, were you able to, like, know what they were
01:24 insulting you with at the time?
01:26 The words that they were giving, such magic, right?
01:30 I had met-- I had met Caitlin and Max,
01:32 and they are so wonderful. They're dynamic.
01:34 It really is like a tennis match between the two
01:37 when you watch them.
01:38 They just go at it.
01:40 Sadly, I didn't-- I couldn't get to film with them
01:43 all the time because they get shrunken down
01:45 to, like, this size.
01:46 But when I could and I was able to read with them
01:50 on the other side, that energy is unparalleled.
01:54 And some of the things I think they say
01:56 are just, like, off the cuff.
01:57 Yes, it's improv.
01:58 They are comedy kings and queens, those two.
02:00 So it was such a pleasure, and it's also really humbling
02:03 to get close to them.
02:05 Yeah, you got bullied a bit.
02:08 They have the best job.
02:09 They just get to be mean and not care.
02:11 Right?
02:13 Kathia, I wanted to go to you.
02:16 I mean, you got to work a lot of cases with these boys.
02:19 Did you have a favorite throughout the whole time?
02:21 Gosh, yeah.
02:22 I think my favorite-- I had so many.
02:25 But episode five, I think, was a favorite case for me
02:29 just because--
02:30 I don't know how much to give away,
02:32 but I liked where they went.
02:34 It's like an unexpected place that they ended up in.
02:38 And sort of the way that--
02:40 there's so many little funny moments, I think,
02:42 with Edwin, even-- like, he's been on the Earth
02:46 for, like, 70 years or something.
02:48 And even in that episode, he's still learning new phrases
02:51 and new things, which I just find hilarious to listen to.
02:55 That was definitely a fun episode to film.
02:58 Yeah, you also kind of got that fun bickering
03:01 with Edwin's character.
03:02 Yeah.
03:03 That's my favorite thing to do with Edwin's character,
03:05 I think.
03:06 Crystal and Edwin bickering is just so funny.
03:08 I love it.
03:09 Like an old married couple.
03:10 It actually is.
03:11 It really kind of is.
03:13 Yeah.
03:14 I mean, they, like, understand each other to an extent,
03:16 but then there's still that wall that they can't crack.
03:19 Yeah.
03:20 Yeah, for sure.
03:22 And I love just all of the supernatural aspects
03:25 of this show.
03:26 So I wanted to ask if you had the possibility
03:29 to either walk through mirrors and go anywhere
03:31 or have a bag that could hold, you know,
03:34 any amount of things, which would you choose?
03:36 I would go with mirror.
03:38 I love--
03:39 You could go anywhere.
03:40 Yeah.
03:41 Just grab me some.
03:42 The bag would be good, because you could fit so much in there.
03:45 But I think you could literally travel anywhere in the world
03:48 if you could go through mirrors.
03:49 Oh, my God.
03:50 Do a "What's in my bag" video.
03:51 Oh, yeah, it would never end.
03:52 We could have a baseball bat or a cricket bat or something.
03:55 No, I think mirrors.
03:56 Yeah, I'm going with mirrors.
03:57 If you go with bag, then you have to organize it.
03:59 And I feel like that--
04:00 [INAUDIBLE]
04:01 Yeah.
04:02 [INAUDIBLE]
04:03 Yeah, I wouldn't be bothered.
04:05 I'd rather go through a mirror and end up in--
04:07 I don't know, go to Japan.
04:08 Yeah.
04:09 Go to Mexico.
04:11 Yu-Yu, I want to go to you.
04:12 I mean, I'm so excited just for everyone to finally see the series
04:15 and connect with these characters.
04:17 What are you excited to see from fans online once they watch it?
04:21 I'm excited to see if they catch all of our Easter eggs.
04:24 Some are quite clear, and some are very hidden.
04:28 So we'll see who's keeping an eye out, because there's so much to watch
04:32 going on, like what's on screen.
04:34 It's so captivating.
04:36 So I wonder if they'll miss some of our fun ones.
04:39 I think I've missed those updates.
04:41 That's cool as well, yeah.
04:42 And we've seen them play, Steve.
04:44 Yeah, literally.
04:47 And Cassie, there are so many emotional scenes.
04:50 So how was it diving into those that go a little deeper
04:53 and just being able to play that out?
04:56 Yeah, I think I didn't want to just be upset the whole time
05:00 or play the same level of upset.
05:02 I think when we cry, we're not crying the same way every time.
05:05 It changes depending on how we're feeling and what's happened.
05:08 So I tried to make sure that the emotional scenes were as varied
05:13 as they could be, while still honoring the text
05:16 and playing truthful to the scene.
05:19 And I think a lot of the time when Crystal has her outburst
05:22 and she's coming across as angry, I think that's actually
05:25 when she's the most hurt and when she's the most upset.
05:27 It's just coming out in a disjointed way.
05:31 So I think that's even probably upset as well.
05:36 I mean, but there's still a lot of fun, a lot of creatures.
05:40 Did you have a favorite supernatural element
05:44 that you got to see come to life?
05:47 I mean, every time Esther makes a pokemon,
05:49 and you just watch that process, it's so raw and yety.
05:54 Jen Lyon, who plays Esther Finch, is incredible.
05:59 She has created the character of Esther down from the way
06:02 that she walks to the way that she literally talks.
06:05 So I think, yeah, anything that the witch is doing,
06:08 I'm like, yeah.
06:09 I'm obsessed. We're all obsessed.
06:11 For sure.
06:12 Honestly, her and the Cat King, like, I love them.
06:15 That pairing is great.
06:18 Those personalities in a room together as their characters.
06:21 Yeah. There's one scene I feel like you'll know which one
06:24 I'm talking about, with Esther and the Cat King,
06:26 that's just like...
06:28 [laughter]
06:30 I was desperately waiting for them to be there together.
06:33 Right?
06:34 Well, that's all the time I have.
06:36 Thank you so much. Congratulations on the show.
06:39 Thank you so much for your time.
