00:00 So how you doing Sam? Yeah good, not too bad. Compton Care, I mean we know where we are it says it on the tin.
00:05 You getting ready to raise some money for them, just fill us in on what the challenge is?
00:10 So I'm running 30 miles on the 1st of June and that's gonna be followed by shaving my head at the Greyhand Lower Pen.
00:17 Yeah. We've got, we've raised so far ten thousand three hundred pounds. Wow.
00:21 So we're looking to get more than that. Good going. So why Compton Care then?
00:26 So my mum got diagnosed with terminal brain tumours last October. Yeah.
00:31 We're local to the charity and we've had a lot of people recommend that we contact them and get the referral to Compton.
00:38 So, yeah, it's just something very close to home. I was gonna say, yeah, personal experience of kind of what services they can offer here.
00:45 Yeah, definitely. They are fantastic here aren't they? Yeah, yeah. Very supportive.
00:49 Heard all good things. Yeah. How long have you been into your running for then?
00:53 About four years now. I did Manchester Marathon last year. Yeah.
00:57 And then I had a little bit of time off. Yeah.
01:00 Like 10k and stuff. 30 miles? 30 miles. Yeah, technically classed as an ultra run.
01:05 So have you done a 30 mile yet? No, I've done a couple of marathons but not 30 miles.
01:11 I mean, what do you have to do for your training for a 30 then? Do you have to, in your training, get up to a 30?
01:16 Or do you know if you can kind of do a, you know, a marathon, you can push to a 30 or?
01:21 The biggest run I'll do is about 25 miles and hopefully the last five miles in the day I'll be able to push through with the support and these three days.
01:29 It's definitely going to be a tough one. Cool. And you're finishing off in Penn then, which is where you're from, that way?
01:34 That's it, yeah. Penn, Lower Penn and Wolverhampton and finishing off at the Greyhounds.
01:38 For a cut on your barnet? For a cut on my barnet and hopefully a few ginseng.
01:42 A very sweaty hair. Yeah.
01:45 We're going to do Rathel and Orkshire and we've got some really good Orkshire prizes as well.
01:48 Great. So signed wool shirts and city shirts.
01:51 So if people want to find out more about the challenge or stick a couple of quid in the sponsorship, how do they do that, mate?
01:56 So it's on JustGiving page, we've got a JustGiving page. Yeah.
02:00 So if you search Sam Shevien and Compton Care on there, you'll be able to find the page.
02:04 Good luck, buddy. Thank you very much.
02:06 So Cara, you work here at Compton Care and 30 miles, you going to tag along with him for the first 15 or what?
02:14 I wish I could, but I don't think I'm going to be able to keep up with him. He's already done two, well he's done a 10k for us and he's done a half marathon.
02:20 So yeah, I am wishing him all the best on the first.
02:23 I mean, it's quite a feat, isn't it? 30 miles. Do you know what I mean?
02:26 Actually, I say quite a feat, the state of his feet after he's done 30 miles.
02:30 But you rely on this, don't you? You know, you rely on people coming up with these crazy challenges and it's going to, you know, just fill us in a bit.
02:37 It's what you need, isn't it? Yeah, absolutely.
02:40 As I say, we couldn't do what we do without people like Sam. I mean, Sam's gone above and beyond to raise incredible amounts of money for us.
02:47 But yeah, every supporter, no matter how small or big it is, really helps us do what we do in the community.
02:52 Well done, Sam. Good luck, boss. Thank you very much.
