A total of 1,965 cars will have the retro-themed package, but only for the GT Premium trim.
Ford Mustang is officially 60 years old. To celebrate, the automaker is hosting a special event in Charlotte, North Carolina. It's also releasing new hardware called the 60th Anniversary Pack.
FYI, this is just a skin pack. But to Ford's credit, it's a pretty sharp piece of hardware that stands out without being too subtle or intrusive. Wheels are probably the first elements you'll notice. They measure 20 inches with a simple five-spoke pattern, heavily inspired by 1965 designs. It's a refreshing change in an age filled with complicated "snowflake" wheel designs. Of course, there's more to this package than a shiny set of wheels.
See those low 5.0 emblems and stripes on the sides? These are based on designs from the 1965 model, such as the GT badge on the boot. On the front, you'll find a unique grille featuring a retro mesh design; The nostrils have silver details to help them stand out. Smoked headlights from the Mustang Nite Pony package have been added to create a sharp contrast with the extra-shiny side mirror caps. Unfortunately they are not real chrome. But shiny silver mimics that classic look.
Speaking of colors, the 60th Anniversary Pack is only available in the aforementioned white, Racing Red, or Vapor Blue color options. You can choose the side stripes in red or silver, and the interior of the model also has gray, red or black interior color options. You'll also find a special serialized 60th Anniversary badge on the dash.
Under the skin, everything is the same as in the new Mustang GT. The 5.0-liter V-8 produces 480 horsepower and drives the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic. If you want the package on an EcoBoost or even a standard GT, you're out of luck. Available only in GT Premium trim. At least you can choose between a sunroof or a hardtop.
Ford will produce only 1,965 Mustangs with the 60th Anniversary package, for reasons that should be obvious. Pricing will be announced when it reaches dealers as a 2025 model towards the end of the year.
