00:02 Four cardiothoracic surgeons have been granted leave to challenge the Malaysian Medical Council's

00:06 refusal to list them on the National Specialist Register.

00:10 Lawyer Jeremiah Raiis said Justice Amarjeet Singh allowed four of the five requests from

00:16 his clients in their application to commence judicial review proceedings.

00:20 The doctors are seeking a declaration that they are entitled to be listed as cardiothoracic

00:25 surgery specialists on the NSR under Section 14C of the Medical Act 1971.

00:31 They are also seeking an order of Sergio Rerai to quash MMC's rejection of their applications.

00:37 Additionally, the doctors want the MMC to recognize the fellowship of the Royal College

00:42 of Surgeons of Edinburgh in cardiothoracic surgery and for the regulator to pay them

00:47 general and exemplary damages.

00:49 They are also seeking a state order to prevent the MMC from implementing its decision,

00:54 pending the court's ruling on their judicial review application.
