00:00 It's obviously been a difficult 24 hours in Fairfield.
00:05 We're keen to hear directly from the local community as well as New South Wales Police
00:09 about how to keep the community safe as well as foster community cohesion in this part of Sydney.
00:15 It's very important in the days and weeks ahead that we get a united message from this community
00:21 as well as community leaders.
00:23 Stephen and myself hosted a meeting in the city with religious leaders.
00:29 Many of whom we were able to get on a conference call last evening at 10.30 at night back together.
00:35 The message was resolute and consistent from that group across all religions.
00:40 That was a belief in our multicultural community, a plea for cohesion and calmness amongst that community
00:49 and a resolute statement against violence of any kind under any circumstances.
00:55 I think that kind of united message is exactly what people of New South Wales want and need to hear.
01:02 So if there's any attempts at violence or breaking the law, it would be happening at the direct and unambiguous opposition
01:15 to the united religious and civic leaders of New South Wales.
01:19 We're very grateful that we've spent some time together.
