00:00 Activist Badrul Hisham Shahreen, also known as Che Gu Bard, and blogger Wan Muhammad Azri
00:07 Wan Deris, better known as Papa Gomo, have been summoned to give their statements on
00:12 Wednesday regarding certain social media posts.
00:16 In a statement on Tuesday, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) said Badrul
00:22 and influencer Muhammad Salim Iskandar will be interviewed at its headquarters in Cyberjaya.
00:28 Meanwhile, Wan Muhammad Azri will have his statement recorded at the Setepak police station.
00:34 The Commission clarified that these statements are being recorded in response to complaints
00:39 about content posted on social media platforms that purportedly violate the Communications
00:44 and Multimedia Act 1998.
00:47 MCMC urged the public to refrain from misusing communication services and online platforms
00:54 to disseminate unverified or false information.
00:58 Earlier on Tuesday at Bukit Aman, both Badrul and Salim were visited by a group claiming
01:03 to represent MCMC.
01:06 Badrul told reporters that failure to appear at the MCMC on Wednesday would result in a
01:11 warrant issued by the magistrate.
01:13 Saying that this is no longer intimidation but an abuse of power, Badrul confirmed that
01:18 he and Salim would be present at MCMC's headquarters around 3pm.
01:24 Badrul and Salim had gathered outside Bukit Aman earlier to express solidarity with former
01:29 Batu Berendam MP Datuk Muhammad Tamrin Abdul Ghaffar, who had given his statement to the
01:34 police in the morning regarding a blog post.
