00:00 The government is surprised that the Philippine Coast Guard blocked the Philippine ship that is conducting a hydro survey near the Bay of Bacilok.
00:11 This is an activity launched by the government to support the ships to advance our rights.
00:18 Patrick De Jesus is in the newsroom live.
00:25 A unique fundraising activity was launched by the Philippine Coast Guard, National Task Force West Philippine Sea and the Philippine Information Agency
00:35 as a way to show support to the government's actions in the West Philippine Sea.
00:41 It is called TAKBO, WPS.
00:45 Its purpose is for the Filipinos, where a non-government organization is located.
00:52 This is to expand the public's awareness of our rights in the West Philippine Sea.
00:58 The public is invited to participate in this event,
01:01 where the first leg of TAKBO WPS will be held in Manila on July 7,
01:07 followed by Cebu on August, September in Cagayan de Oro, and also in Dapitan City.
01:14 The proceeds will be donated to the West Philippine Sea Education Campaign.
01:20 The importance of fighting misinformation spread about WPS is also given.
01:28 We are incorporating the popularity of running in our advocacy, that is why we chose this objective.
01:36 And then of course the second one is to strengthen Filipino patriotism,
01:41 particularly in the light of prevailing news and current events.
01:44 So we can see what the news is and we want to inform our fellow Filipinos,
01:50 especially the youth and students, about this issue.
01:57 It is saddening that many of our fellow Filipinos, especially in the provinces and regions,
02:04 are sometimes dragged, as ADG Malaya said, into the issues of trolls and the payment of people who have an interest in the West Philippine Sea.
02:22 We want to help our fellow Filipinos, and that is the mandate of the Philippine Information Agency,
02:29 to understand what is really being discussed in the West Philippine Sea.
02:34 Meanwhile, the PCG and National Security Council confirmed that there is a continuing hydrographic survey in the northwestern part of Luzon, near Bajo de Macillo.
02:46 This is led by the ship of NAMRIA, which is a BRPH Ventura, and is escorted by BRP Gabriela.
02:54 Although there is a ship of the China Coast Guard that was spotted,
02:58 the PCG and NSC suspected that it was a Philippine ship.
03:04 They did not stand off, but the CCG was able to monitor the hydrographic survey.
03:09 The China Coast Guard vessel was not able to stop the BRP Gabriela Silang and BRP Ventura,
03:17 which are currently doing the hydrographic survey in this part of northwestern Luzon.
03:25 There is a presence of a China Coast Guard vessel, that is China Coast Guard Vessel 5303.
03:31 But, it is not being stopped. It is just actually monitoring, tailing the Philippine Coast Guard vessel,
03:39 and also the NAMRIA vessel that is doing the hydrographic survey.
03:44 Based on his appreciation, there is a standoff. There is none.
03:47 Because of course, the NAMRIA vessel will stop the hydrographic survey.
03:51 You cannot do a quick survey like this.
03:56 If the NAMRIA vessel is stopped, the China Coast Guard will stop it.
04:01 So, there is no interference, there is no standoff, there is nothing.
04:06 It is just a normal day at the West Philippine Sea.
04:12 Angelic, yesterday, the hydrographic survey started and it will last until next week or April 21.
04:21 Angelic.
04:22 Okay, so Patrick, it is good that it is clear that there is no interference.
04:26 It just monitored and tailed. Did the China Coast Guard also leave immediately?
04:36 Angelic, the China Coast Guard vessel is monitoring the hydrographic survey.
04:44 The PCG signed it and it reached 35 nautical miles from the shorelines of the Philippines.
04:52 But, as they mentioned, there was no interference.
04:58 But, it still monitored.
05:01 The PCG and NSC also signed that we have the right to conduct activities within our territory.
05:11 Just like this hydrographic survey, which is far from marine topography, deep in the ocean, and other things.
05:21 NAMRIA and PCG are in charge of it.
05:25 Angelic.
05:26 Okay, thank you very much, Patrick de Jesus.
05:28 there soon.
