00:49 that their relative was on a farm when they saw the Tarsier.

00:53 That's why they held them to change their position.

00:58 Oh no, in 1997, the former President declared

01:03 through Presidential Proclamation No. 1030

01:06 that the Philippine Tarsier is a specially protected faunal species of the Philippines

01:12 and that it is prohibited to possess it.

01:15 That's why Republic Act 9417 was passed

01:19 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act

01:22 where it is prohibited to possess protected species.

01:26 Depending on the exact rating of the Tarsier,

01:29 for example, the penalty could be up to half a million pesos

01:34 and up to six years in prison

01:36 if the classification of an animal is critical.

01:40 If it is endangered, 200,000 pesos and up to two years in prison.

01:45 10 days to one month and fine up to 5,000 pesos

01:49 if it is an other threatened species.

01:51 We all know that Tarsiers are a bit threatened and dangerous

01:55 that's why it is necessary to monitor it with a DNR.

02:03 that prohibits the possession and abuse of Tarsiers.
