00:43 Hey, how about letting an old timer sit in tonight?
00:46 [Music]
00:52 It's cool. I'm Tucker's brother. I used to run these meetings.
00:56 [Music]
01:01 Well, it looks like you've changed things a little bit.
01:04 [Music]
01:05 When I was here we...
01:06 [Music]
01:11 Help me!
01:12 Gramps?
01:13 I need your help!
01:15 [Phone ringing]
01:17 [Music]
01:21 Hello?
01:22 [Music]
01:23 Hi, Grandma.
01:24 [Music]
01:26 No, it's okay. I was...
01:28 [Music]
01:29 I was awake, sort of.
01:30 [Music]
01:31 What's up?
01:32 [Music]
01:38 No.
01:39 [Music]
02:05 Hi.
02:06 [Music]
02:10 I was sitting here just yesterday, watching the kids play ball in the street.
02:17 [Music]
02:20 Gene got such a kick out of that.
02:22 [Music]
02:28 It's amazing how quickly things can change.
02:31 But, Gramps wasn't even sick.
02:34 What happened?
02:36 He came home, upset about something.
02:40 I've never seen him in such a state.
02:43 He was angry and frightened.
02:47 I tried to calm him down, but he was all wound up.
02:53 And his heart wasn't strong enough to take it.
03:00 What was he so upset about?
03:03 I don't know.
03:05 [Music]
03:08 But, he said it had something to do with you.
03:14 [Music]
03:24 He was desperate to tell you something.
03:28 [Music]
03:30 Your grandfather, Gene, was a wonderful man.
03:35 He loved to tell stories and laugh at silly things.
03:41 He wasn't often serious, but when he was, I always listened.
03:49 And he was very serious about making sure that you got this.
03:55 [Music]
04:05 It's a piece of an old record.
04:09 Listen to the music.
04:11 He wrote this to go along with it.
04:14 [Music]
04:19 Grandma?
04:21 I came as soon as I heard.
04:23 Tucker, I'm glad you did.
04:31 I don't know what to say.
04:33 It's all right.
04:35 I know how you feel.
04:37 It's my dream.
04:40 What dream?
04:43 Grandma, I need some time to figure this out.
04:45 I'll be back later, all right?
04:47 Come on, Tucker.
04:50 Do you need anything?
04:52 No, no, thank you.
04:54 Call me later, huh?
04:56 You got it.
04:58 [Music]
05:02 What's with the note?
05:03 You have a meeting tonight?
05:05 Yeah, but I'll cancel it.
05:06 Don't.
05:07 Why not?
05:08 Because I need to be there.
05:10 Why?
05:11 Deal with this.
05:13 It might tell us why Grandpa Gene died.
05:15 [Music]
05:21 So, your grandfather started the Midnight Society.
05:25 1937.
05:26 He and four friends cleared these woods,
05:28 made the fire ring,
05:30 and built the storyteller's chair.
05:33 There's been a Midnight Society coming out here ever since.
05:37 Wow, that's a lot of stories.
05:42 I bet your grandma's told great stories.
05:46 Just before he died,
05:47 Gramps wrote down a story.
05:49 Go ahead.
05:52 His last.
05:54 And it's the most amazing story the Midnight Society is ever going to hear.
06:01 He began it over 60 years ago,
06:04 and it's still not finished.
06:06 Not finished?
06:07 He wants us to finish it.
06:09 It's about five best friends
06:11 who got this charm from a magic shop.
06:14 Like the Magic Mansion?
06:15 Yeah, sort of.
06:17 They thought it was a good luck piece,
06:19 but they soon found out the only luck this charm had
06:23 was bad luck.
06:26 Great start.
06:27 Keep going.
06:28 The charm was called the Silver Sight,
06:31 and it held a powerful black magic.
06:33 When they found out,
06:34 the friends tried to get rid of it,
06:36 but they didn't know how.
06:38 And then, horrible things started to go down.
06:42 All because one of the friends
06:44 -- someone they thought they could trust --
06:47 was using the evil magic of the charm.
06:52 A traitor in the group?
06:54 Excellent.
06:55 So one of the friends took the charm and hid it.
06:58 He gave each of the others one clue that told where it was hidden.
07:01 He figured they'd have to put their clues together to find it,
07:04 and working together was the only way they could destroy it.
07:08 Cool.
07:09 Like a treasure hunt.
07:11 What were the clues?
07:14 The guy made a voice recording.
07:16 They didn't have cassettes or CDs back then,
07:19 so he made a record.
07:21 He broke it into five pieces.
07:23 On each piece, he wrote down one clue,
07:26 then gave a piece to each of his friends,
07:28 and kept one himself.
07:29 So to find out where the Silver Sight was,
07:31 they had to put the record back together,
07:33 get all the clues, and listen to it.
07:36 Exactly.
07:38 That's cool.
07:39 And then what happens?
07:41 What happens is this isn't a story, is it?
07:44 What?
07:45 Yeah, this is a story.
07:51 A true story.
07:52 No way!
07:54 Gary, this really happened?
07:56 Well, unfortunately, yeah.
08:00 Why don't you tell us everything?
08:03 All right, here it is.
08:05 Five friends were the first Midnight Society.
08:08 They never got back together,
08:10 so the Silver Sight's been hidden all these years.
08:13 Good!
08:14 Let it stay hidden.
08:16 But yesterday, something scared Grandpa Gene so bad,
08:20 he had a heart attack.
08:22 And it had to do with the Silver Sight thing.
08:25 You mean like it's come back?
08:27 I don't know.
08:28 He just noted a plea for help.
08:30 He gave it to me because he didn't think
08:32 anyone else would believe him.
08:34 What kind of help?
08:36 Gramps wants me to track down the old Midnight Society,
08:39 get their clues, find the Silver Sight,
08:42 and destroy it once and for all,
08:44 like they should have done years ago.
08:46 So how come you're telling us?
08:49 Because we gotta move fast.
08:51 Gramps was afraid somebody else might find it first.
08:54 And there's nobody we can go to believe us,
08:57 except you guys.
08:59 So what do you want us to do?
09:01 I've got four names, the rest of the old Midnight Society.
09:05 We split up, find them,
09:07 and get their pieces of the record.
09:09 That's it.
09:10 Taka and I will take it from there.
09:12 What if we find the traitor?
09:14 I don't know.
09:15 Look, I won't blame you guys if you don't want to help.
09:19 Gary, we tell stories here.
09:29 Made-up stories.
09:31 This is like real.
09:34 Exactly.
09:35 That's why we have to do something, because it's real.
09:39 Tell us about the Silver Sight thing again.
09:42 It's a charm, probably a small thing,
09:44 but it has some kind of power that can really hurt people.
09:48 Oh, man, I'm not liking this.
09:50 Your Gramps was a good guy, right?
09:52 The best.
09:54 I gotta find out why he died.
09:56 [sighs]
10:00 Okay, give me a name, quick, before I change my mind.
10:04 All right. Thanks, Meg.
10:06 Why don't we just find the guy
10:08 that hid the thing in the first place?
10:11 He died the day after he hid it.
10:14 Oh, man, this just keeps getting better.
10:17 I'll help.
10:19 Me too, but not by myself.
10:24 No problem.
10:25 How about the two of you work together?
10:28 Don't you think this is a little bit out of bounds?
10:32 It's all right, Quinn.
10:34 You don't have to help, man.
10:36 You know I'll help,
10:42 'cause if this thing gets nasty,
10:45 you're gonna need me.
10:47 Great.
10:49 Tuck and I will take care of the fourth name.
10:53 Now remember, it's pieces of the record that we need.
10:57 That's where the clues are.
10:59 We'll meet tomorrow in my dorm room for a status report.
11:03 All right, let's hit it.
11:05 Guys, I, uh--
11:09 Well, thanks for doing this.
11:12 You forgot something.
11:24 What?
11:26 The story needs a title.
11:29 Yeah.
11:31 I haven't done this in a while.
11:37 Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society.
11:41 I call this story...
11:44 "The Earth."
11:46 Whoa.
11:49 That's kind of not normal.
11:56 [♪♪♪]
12:00 [♪♪♪]
12:03 [♪♪♪]
12:28 [♪♪♪]
12:31 [♪♪♪]
12:39 Hello?
12:44 Hello in there?
12:47 Don't be a goof.
12:49 What? We're on TV.
12:51 [phone rings]
12:54 [phone rings]
12:56 Be cool. This guy's a war hero.
13:08 This guy's a rich war hero.
13:10 What's his name?
13:12 Lang Candle, the oldest member of the original Midnight Society.
13:16 [doorbell rings]
13:19 [doorbell rings]
13:21 Hey, check this out.
13:30 What?
13:32 What?
13:45 Step in, men. Don't be shy.
13:48 Yes, I can see your grandfather in both of you.
13:56 Except for the slouch, of course.
13:59 I was very sorry to hear about his untimely demise.
14:05 Never thought he'd go before me.
14:08 Pity.
14:10 Mr. Candle, we...
14:12 General.
14:14 Excuse me?
14:16 You call me General.
14:18 Okay. General.
14:20 You were part of the Midnight Society, right?
14:23 Midnight Society.
14:25 Haven't thought about that team for quite some time.
14:29 This way.
14:32 That was an exceptional group.
14:43 Every last one of them.
14:46 That's how I like to remember them.
14:49 Take it. I have another.
14:53 Cool.
14:55 Slouching again?
14:57 We're here because...
15:01 Speak up, son.
15:03 If you've got anything worth saying, say it.
15:06 Well, we're here about the Silver Sight.
15:11 Why in the name of Sam Houston are you asking me about that?
15:15 It was Grant's last request.
15:17 He wants us to find it and destroy it.
15:20 You know what it is, right?
15:22 The question is, do you know what it is?
15:25 Sort of. It's like this little evil charm thing.
15:30 It's the Devil's own tool.
15:33 Go home and forget you ever heard of them.
15:36 We can't let them get away with it.
15:39 We can't. Grandpa Gene wrote...
15:42 Have you got his piece of the record?
15:45 We're tracking down all the pieces.
15:48 We'd like to have your piece if we could.
15:51 I always thought something like this would happen.
16:05 Part of me wanted to pass on...
16:08 before I had to face this particular demon again.
16:12 I had to dig it out of storage.
16:19 Come back in a few hours. I'll have it for you then.
16:23 Thank you.
16:27 I hope you know what you've gotten yourselves into.
16:32 No one who has touched the Silver Sight...
16:35 has emerged undamaged.
16:38 Generally speaking, I think the General is a little whack.
16:54 It doesn't matter, as long as we get his piece of the record.
16:58 [♪♪♪]
17:01 [♪♪♪]
17:05 [♪♪♪]
17:31 [♪♪♪]
17:34 Gary?
17:37 Tucker?
17:42 [♪♪♪]
17:45 [♪♪♪]
17:59 [♪♪♪]
18:02 [gasps]
18:06 Who are you? What are you doing in my house?
18:10 My grandson will be back here any second!
18:13 [screams]
18:16 [screams]
18:28 [sniffing]
18:31 Ugh! P.U.!
18:34 What smells?
18:37 All right, all right. I'm guilty.
18:40 You said this was going to be a dangerous mission, not a dirty one.
18:44 Well, at least you're getting closer to a piece of the record.
18:48 Oh, you stink!
18:54 Sorry.
18:57 Hey, check this out. Midnight Society, 1937.
19:01 Wow.
19:06 So how'd you guys do?
19:14 Not good. We've been to the library, we've been online.
19:18 We've called everywhere, but we can't seem to find any record of Bruce Magoro.
19:22 Well, there's got to be some trace somewhere. Keep looking, all right?
19:26 [phone rings]
19:28 Hello?
19:30 Gary? Grandma?
19:33 There's someone in the house.
19:36 I'm afraid he's...
19:39 Hello? Hello?
19:42 Hello?
19:44 Grandma? What?
19:47 Hello? Grandma? What?
19:50 [music]
19:53 Grandma?
20:03 Where are you?
20:06 Gary Tucker, where are you? Boys?
20:09 Go!
20:12 Grandma?
20:15 Are you all right? Boys, I'm fine.
20:18 Someone broke into the house. I locked myself in the bedroom.
20:22 They destroyed my home.
20:25 Did you see him? Yes, but I was so frightened that he was wearing a mask.
20:29 What did he want? It was horrible.
20:32 He kept pounding at the door. I thought he was going to break it down.
20:35 And he kept yelling that he wanted Gene's piece of the record.
20:39 Oh, my.
20:42 Uh-oh. This just got more serious.
20:46 Okay, I'll call the police and stay here with Grandma.
20:49 Tuck, go back and get that thing we were after.
20:52 Yeah, yeah, sure. Good. Go.
20:55 You sure? Yes. Go now.
20:58 Hey, Grandma.
21:06 What's so important about a broken piece of record?
21:09 [music]
21:12 I think you should read this.
21:15 It's Grandpa Gene's last story.
21:18 [music]
21:21 [music]
21:24 [music]
21:27 Hey, it's me.
21:30 I mean, come for the record, General.
21:33 [music]
21:36 [music]
21:39 [music]
21:42 [music]
21:45 [music]
21:48 [music]
21:51 [music]
21:54 Let me try.
21:57 You sure you want to go in?
22:00 Well, yeah. He's expecting me.
22:03 Okay. Don't say I didn't warn you.
22:06 Don't bother. It's locked.
22:09 [music]
22:12 Hey, who are you?
22:15 [music]
22:18 Hello?
22:21 General?
22:24 Hello?
22:27 [music]
22:30 [music]
22:33 [music]

22:54 [music]
22:57 This is getting creepy.
23:00 [music]
23:03 Hey, what are you doing here?
23:06 I came to get the...
23:09 I'm looking for...
23:12 Dad!
23:15 [music]
23:18 [music]
23:21 [music]
23:24 This is her, right? Donna Tilton?
23:27 Looks like her.
23:30 Excellent. Hey, you can't just take that.
23:33 Yeah, I can. It doesn't belong him. I'll tell you about it later.
23:36 [music]
23:39 I know why you're here.
23:42 You shouldn't be playing the way you're playing.
23:45 What do you mean?
23:48 Because you're not good enough.
23:51 For what?
23:54 To handle the power.
23:57 That's right.
24:00 What you're looking for is right in here.
24:03 What's in there? The silver sign?
24:06 See for yourself.
