00:00How often do you do something for yourself?
00:05Hey, I'm Marco for AuthenticGermanLearning.com
00:10and this is the topic for today.
00:46The quick tip: We acquire a language
00:53through comprehensible input.
00:56That means that you learn German most effectively
01:04if you read and listen to a lot of German
01:12and it is very helpful,
01:15if the level a little above that
01:21which you can understand now.
01:25With this video you get, for example,
01:29lots comprehensible input.
01:33We all enjoy it
01:35when someone does us a favor.
01:39So when someone does me a favor,
01:43then I'm always very pleased,
01:45because then I feel highly appreciated.
01:47I am glad that there are people
01:50in my life, who do good things for me.
01:53But how often we do ourselves a favor?
01:59Because I think this is very important,
02:03to also do favors for ourselves.
02:06I think it is very important,
02:10to do something for yourself.
02:12And this includes quite a lot of things: eating good food,
02:24having an organized workplace,
02:28having a neat and clean apartment
02:32- all of which can be described as
02:36”doing something for ourselves”. Lately I'm doing
02:41many such things and I realize
02:44how it totally boosts my self-confidence and also
02:52that it makes me much happier.
02:56It makes me much happier to know
02:59I'm doing things for myself.
03:02I eat healthier now. I'm think about
03:07how I can use my time more effectively.
03:10I exercise more intensively.
03:14I cleaned my room very much.
03:19Everything is now very clean here.
03:22One reason for this is also, that you will
03:28see a tidy room behind me.
03:33For me it feels totally great,
03:40because my brain then gets the message:
03:43”Hey, I value myself I am worth something!”
03:46This really is the essence of self-esteem.
03:51Not that others think that you have value,
03:56but that you yourself are convinced
04:02that you are valuable.
04:03Sometimes it may of course be difficult
04:09to do certain things.
04:10Sometimes it can be difficult,
04:13to overcome one's weaker self (”pig-dog”)
04:16and to do certain things
04:19such as cleaning and so on.
04:21There is often this weaker self (”pig-dog”).
04:25I'll explain ”pig-dog” briefly:
04:30So in the German language we have this saying
04:34”to overcome the inner pig-dog”.
04:42”Pig-dog” actually makes no sense.
04:47A pig-dog - is that a mixture
04:51of a pig and a dog?
04:53No idea, but that word
04:57occurs only in this phrase.
05:01And you overcome your weaker self
05:05if you partly don't want to do something
05:13but you still do.
05:15And when you overcome your weaker self
05:19when you apply the willpower
05:21and take care of yourself
05:27and do precisely such things as cleaning,
05:30doing sports, eating healthy, pursuing hobbies, then
05:37you realize very quickly that you feel better.
05:46Therefore, my question to you is: What can you do
05:51in order to take care of yourself?
05:57What can you do so that you are doing something good for yourself?
06:03That was the message for today.
06:07So my tip is: Maybe there are things
06:15you can do and I promise you
06:18you'll feel very doing them.
06:23I hope this was inspiring.
06:27I am curious what you undertake
06:33and finally I would very much like
06:38to thank my first supporters on patreon.
06:43At the time I record this video
06:48I have three supporters. In the future that will
06:53probably be even more and more and more,
06:55but now I have three supporters
06:57and I want to thank them wholeheartedly.
07:00These are Jonathan, Samuel and Michael.
07:06So many, many thanks to you three.
07:11This means a lot to me.
07:15If you like these videos,
07:18I would encourage you to
07:22to make a small contribution.
07:25How much are these videos worth to you?
07:27If you want to do that,
07:33then you simply go to
07:34AuthenticGermanLearning.com/spenden
07:39and then you can
07:44invest a bit into this YouTube channel,
07:47so that it gets better and better
07:50and also so that it continues. Thanks a lot for this
07:55and we'll see each other tomorrow! Bye!
08:00A small request at the end:
08:04Do you sometimes buy at Amazon?
08:08Then it would help me a lot if you
08:11visit the following URL before your purchase:
08:16AuthenticGermanLearning.com/amazon
08:23Then you will be redirected to your Amazon store
08:30and there you can, as always, buy the things
08:35you need and a small percentage of
08:41what Amazon earns accrues to me.
08:44But, the good thing is:
08:47You don't need to pay a penny more!
08:52Isn't that convenient?
08:53You're doing everything as always,
08:55buy as usual on Amazon.
08:58But if you visit the link before
09:01then I - and this project will get
09:06a little support.
09:07AuthenticGermanLearning.com/amazon
09:14Thank you so much! Bye and see you tomorrow!
