00:00 Pediatric intensive care doctor from Jordan, Tanya Haj Hassan, described the cases she
00:06 had seen in just the past 10 hours at the Al-Aqsa martyrs hospital in the town of Deir
00:11 al-Bala.
00:12 Haj Hassan was part of a seven-doctor team that has been working at the hospital since
00:18 the middle of March, set up by the relief groups, international rescue committee and
00:22 medical aid for Palestinians.
00:25 Their two-week visit has given them a first-hand look at Gaza's decimated health sector under
00:30 the nearly six-month Israeli assault in their tiny territory.
00:35 Only around a dozen of Gaza's 36 hospitals are even partially functioning.
00:40 The arrests have gone completely out of commission as they ran out of fuel and medicine, were
00:44 surrounded also and raided by Israel troops, or were damaged in fighting.
00:49 The remaining facilities, including the Al-Aqsa martyrs hospital, must take in the flood of
00:55 patients, even as they struggle with limited supplies and overwhelmed staff.
01:01 "The patients are in the corridors.
01:04 When we search, there are no rooms for the patients.
01:10 They are all in the corridors, either on the floor or on the ground, or on the bed, they
01:15 don't have basic necessities.
01:16 They are suffering, they are suffering a lot."
01:17 "You asked me about the ability of the health care system to deal with it.
01:23 People are tired.
01:25 Our team has been doing this for five days.
01:27 We're exhausted.
01:28 I can't imagine what the Gazan team, who's been here for 162 days, doing this 24/7, 162
01:36 days without resources, is dealing with.
01:39 You asked me whether they had the resources to deal with these cases.
01:43 No."
