AREA invites all the members and the non-members to the third meeting about Palestine, organised by the European network AREA.
The meeting is an attempt to bridge and connect Palestinian artists with structures and organizations that could host artists in residence and welcome them.
It is an open invitation to step up and stand out, and to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and in the occupied territories of Palestine.
There is no peace without the legitimation of equal rights of existence, freedom of speech and freedom of expression.
There is no culture without justice and solidarity among equal human beings.
There is no peace where there is Apartheid.
In this moment of humanitarian catastrophe, we aim to make an effort to support the sector of the Arts in Gaza, in the West Bank, and all the Occupied Territories.
What precisely does “solidarity” mean nowadays?
We believe there is a need to reinforce mobility actions to help and support Palestinian lives and its culture, all at risk of being cancelled.
This situation did not commence in October. But in the last few months and weeks, the violence and terror in Gaza has led to the killing of more than 30.000 people, leaving thousands of injured and traumatized people, especially children.
In both Gaza and the West Bank, Palestinians have been humiliated, their homeland occupied and destroyed: In Gaza itself, they have been forced to leave the North of the Gaza Strip, and go “to the safe South”, towards Rafah, where the Israeli Army, the IDF, has deliberately targeted people who are starving, while they were trying to reach the Aid Trucks. Thousands of lorries with all sorts of basic necessities and clean water are stuck at the border, where the IDF does not permit the aid to pass through.
We are trying to reach out to what is left of our human empathy towards a population suffering beyond all acceptable and tolerable limits.
We invite you to be with us and stand up for Palestine, once more.
