00:00 The Department of Health or DOH is closely monitoring and responding to the pertussis outbreak in the country.
00:06 568 cases and 40 deaths were reported from January 1 to March 16.
00:11 This is a significant increase compared to the same period last year.
00:15 Regions with the highest cases include Calabarzon, Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Mimaropa and Central Visayas.
00:23 Infants below 6 months account for majority of cases with many being unvaccinated.
00:28 In the meantime, the DOH is taking steps to ensure an adequate supply of vaccines to address the outbreak.
