00:32 Also charged under the same code was Chai's 53-year-old homemaker wife Lo Siu Mui in her
00:38 capacity as company director, who also claimed trial.
00:42 Defence counsel Datuk Rajpal Singh pleaded for bail to be set at 5,000 ringgit as punishment
00:49 under the charge is a maximum jail term of one year and a fine or both.
00:54 He said Chai is not a flight risk as he helmed 810 KK Mart outlets, which employed 5,000
01:01 people, other than being a philanthropist and head of several NGOs.

01:22 As for Lo, Rajpal said, although she was a director of the company, she is a homemaker,
01:28 raising two children aged 21 and 17, and asked for a bail of 5,000 ringgit given the circumstances.

01:43 Also in the dock were the directors of Sinjan Chang, Sendirian Berhad, which is the Batu
01:48 Pahat-based company that supplied the socks to KK Mart.
01:52 So Chin Huat and his wife Goh Lihwai, both aged 62, along with their 36-year-old daughter
02:00 So Hui San, were all individually charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code, which
02:06 was read together with Section 298 of the same code.
02:10 All three were accused of abetting the said offence by supplying KK Mart with the socks.
02:16 The trio were offered bail at 10,000 ringgit, each with one surety.
02:21 Also charged were KK Super Mart and Superstore Sendirian Berhad, and Sinjan Chang Sendirian
02:28 Berhad.
02:29 The former was charged under Section 298 of the Penal Code, whilst the latter was charged
02:34 under Section 109 of the Penal Code which was read together with Section 298 of the
02:40 same code.
02:41 The court fixed April 29th for case mention.
