US President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters that Department of Government Efficiency head Elon Musk's Friday (March 21) meeting at the Pentagon was to address costs.
They dismissed a New York Times report that the billionaire was to be briefed about the US military's plan for any war that might break out with China.

01:31The rest of that reporting was fake.
01:32There was no war plans, there was no Chinese war plans, there was no secret plans.
01:37That's not what we were doing at the Pentagon.
01:38I might add that I think Elon, if you, if they ever wanted to do that, I think Elon
01:42wouldn't do it.
01:43I think he wouldn't do it.
01:44He wouldn't want to put himself in that position.
