MILA
Golden Retriever Mix
8 ½ years old
First came to us in October of 2023 and was adopted later that month, and brought back 4 days later for being destructive, but in her defense, she was left alone for 4 ½ hours in a travel trailer in the first 3 days of having her… so she had no idea where she was and was scared and tried to get out. Patience is the key with all of these dogs. Just needs an adult only home, where she can hang out with you and watch TV or go for a nice walk together. Probably best to let her be your one and only.

LEXA
Mixed breed
This sweet (but so scared) girl has been with us since October, when her family that she had known her whole life had to surrender her because they were moving and couldn’t take her. She’s almost 5 years old and needs someone SPECIAL with a LOT of patience to let her adjust. She is NOT a Hallmark movie dog... it’s not going to be easy because she is going to need time... time to get to know you, her surroundings, your routines, your body language and to learn to trust. She needs a yard that is secure (because she is scared and may try to escape) She should probably be in an adult only home, so she doesn’t get spooked by kids coming up to her fast, as they do! She’s very sensitive to touch, but has learned that belly rubs are good, from our Team here. (But it has taken time and patience to get to that point and we didn’t push it with her)

00:00 The following portion of the Northern Arizona Daily Mix is sponsored by Buc-ee's Casino.
00:07 One thing we love about Buc-ee's and that is after you've played and have some fun,
00:11 you can donate to one of the many charities around the Prescott area and one is the Yalapai
00:16 Humane Society.
00:17 Lori, how are you?
00:18 I'm doing so good, Brad.
00:19 Thanks for coming out.
00:20 Oh my goodness, we had to be here because again, Buc-ee's a big supporter of yours and
00:24 what we love too is that you have some friendly, fun animals that need homes.
00:29 We do.
00:30 We will never ever run out of them, that is for sure and they are so precious and we,
00:35 you know, all the shelters across the country are at capacity, over capacity, so it's really
00:40 important that we get the word out and find all these fur babies homes.
00:43 Well, let's bring out our first fur baby and see what we can do.
00:47 This is Lexa.
00:50 Aww.
00:51 With Aiden.
00:54 And Lexa is a Rottweiler mix.
00:57 She's super sweet.
00:58 She's been pretty scared since she's been here.
01:01 She's been with us since October.
01:03 The family that she had, you know, her whole life, they had to surrender her because they
01:08 were moving and couldn't take her, which is extremely sad.
01:11 She does need somebody with a lot of patience, someone really special to let her adjust.
01:20 She is not a Hallmark movie dog.
01:22 She's not going to be running into you and running into your arms right away.
01:27 Aiden and Lexa have a very special relationship.
01:29 They love each other.
01:32 She's just going to really need time to get to know you, her surroundings, your body language,
01:39 your mannerisms.
01:40 We always say when you take a new dog home, it's kind of like walking through the gate
01:45 of Disneyland.
01:46 There's so many smells, so many things to see, new things.
01:51 She does need a yard that's secure because she does get scared and might try to escape
01:56 and she should probably be in an adult only home.
02:01 She does get spooked by kids running up to her fast, but don't we all?
02:08 She's a little bit sensitive to touch, especially like on her paws, but she has gotten used
02:13 to good belly rubs and just getting all the love that she needs.
02:20 But like I said, she really does just need a lot of patience and time to adjust.
02:26 I love that.
02:27 I love that you tell us this.
02:28 That way when you're coming here to adopt a pet, that you know what's going on and that's
02:32 important there.
02:33 But again, this dog just needs a little bit of love and someone, again, who has the patience,
02:37 just needs a partner to sit and just relax with.
02:40 Correct.
02:41 Correct.
02:42 She does, she's totally chill, mellow out right now.
02:46 That's one of the things that we really pride on is letting people know what they're getting.
02:53 I love it.
02:54 Okay, I know you have another one for us too, don't you?
02:55 Yes, we do.
02:56 We have Mila.
02:57 All right.
02:58 And Mila, isn't she beautiful?
03:01 She is a Golden Retriever mix.
03:03 She's eight and a half years old.
03:05 She first came to us in October.
03:08 She was adopted out later that month and brought back four days later for being destructive.
03:14 But in her defense, she was left alone for four and a half hours in a little trailer.
03:21 So she didn't know where she was.
03:23 And when you're left alone for that long within the first three days, she has no idea what
03:28 was going on.
03:29 She was scared.
03:30 So again, patience is the key with all of these dogs.
03:35 And she does probably need to be an adult only home too, just where she can hang out,
03:41 watch TV, go for walks, just be your best friend.
03:44 Yeah.
03:45 And what I love too about these dogs and about here again, is that you have a vaccine clinic
03:50 here too to make sure that they get all the things they need.
03:53 Right.
03:54 We have a vaccine clinic.
03:55 It's held at 2989 Center Point East Drive.
03:58 Right now for March, it's every Friday from nine to two.
04:02 We've got total dog package, which includes rabies, distemper, Parvo 4-in-1, Bordetella,
04:10 and a dewormer.
04:11 And that's only $75.
04:14 And then we've also got the total cat, which is $60.
04:18 And that's rabies, feline FVRCP.
04:22 Don't even ask me what that is.
04:25 And we also do microchipping.
04:26 I like that.
04:27 So as we bring the dogs in, you can see again, very friendly here, very way to of course
04:32 get that new family member to your home and a great way to support the Up by Humane Society.
04:37 Just like Bucky does, especially after you play, you can actually hit that payout and
04:42 send it to one of the many charities around the Prescott area.
04:45 So thanks for having us here.
04:46 Thanks, Brad.
04:47 You're welcome.
