Palm Sunday, or officially called Palm Sunday in Remembrance of the Passion of the Lord, is a day of remembrance in the liturgy of the Christian Church, especially the Churches of Eastern Christianity and the Roman Catholic Church, which always falls on the Sunday before Easter. This celebration refers to events recorded in the four Gospels, namely Mark 11:1-11, Matthew 21:1-11, Luke 19:28-44 and John 12:12-19. In this celebration, the event of Jesus' entry into the city of Jerusalem and being hailed by the crowd is remembered.[1] The entry of Jesus Christ into the holy city of Jerusalem is special because this happened before Jesus was tortured, died, and rose from the dead. That is why Palm Sunday is called the opening of the holy week, which focuses on Jesus' last week in the city of Jerusalem.[1] In the Palm Sunday liturgy, people generally receive palm leaves and the church room is filled with palm ornaments, imitating the crowds hailing Jesus with palm leaves.
