The Tasmanian Labor party declared its loss in the state election and will not attempt to form a minority government. Despite no party gaining a majority, the Liberal party has secured more seats and will need to negotiate with the crossbench to form a government.

00:07 And on the basis that the Liberal Party have one more seat and convention would dictate that the Governor would ask the Premier to form government,
00:14 whether it's in the Parliament or with the support of the crossbench, that is the likely outcome of this election result.
00:21 I respect that outcome. I respect the will of the people. And I'm very grateful to the people of Lyons who've given me their support.
00:28 I have already reached out to independents, potential independents and indeed the Lambie Party as well.
00:37 And I look forward to those ongoing discussions to ensure that I'm confident that the new people that are elected to the Tasmanian Parliament
