The wild-looking EV adds a big wing, a massive diffuser and a dragon face on the sides, but no extra power.
Chinese automaker GAC Aion has just unveiled its newest and perhaps most striking model, which looks like it's been lifted from one of the early 2000s Midnight Club games or an early Fast and Furious movie. The new Aion S Black Dragon Max lives up to its incredible name with many eye-catching aerodynamic components and hard-to-miss stickers.
Based on the regular Aion S Max sedan introduced late last year, the Black Dragon Max adds a more aggressive front bumper with a large splitter and aerodynamic wings on both sides. The automaker also darkened the emblems and installed new door mirror covers and a tinted window film over the windshield.
As dramatic as Black Dragon Max's front end is, its profile looks much more Fast and Furious. The depiction of a giant dragon is right there, so no one will pass your new car off as the "plain" S Max model. It's unclear whether the dragon is painted or decal, but either way, it makes this sedan stand out, for better or worse. Exterior revisions also include custom side skirts, black wheels with red lug nuts, and six-piston bright red TEI Racing brake calipers up front.
A fixed rear wing and sharp and aggressive diffuser with slim central brake light complete the wild appearance of the Black Dragon Max.
The GAC Aion hasn't upgraded the EV's powertrain like you'd expect from its crazy exterior. As such, it continues to be supported by a 67.9 kWh NMC battery pack, which drives a single 245 hp electric motor at the front axle, allowing the car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.8 seconds. The vehicle has a range of 610 km (379 miles) and will go on sale in the second half of the year.
