00:43 The digital economy is the economy and digital economy has no borders.
00:47 It's borderless.
00:48 And ASEAN as a market is very attractive for entrepreneurs across the borders.
00:53 This year's DEX Connects has brought, like you said, 35 companies.
00:57 We've got 6 MOUs signed.
00:59 We closed quite a lot of business last year.
01:03 There's a spillover effect to this year which we're trying to close at this meeting.
01:06 We're also having this DEX Connects in Manila to create new pipelines as well.
01:11 So a lot of new tech sector focus this year has been around cyber security,
01:18 has been around FinTech, has been around port management, transport management as well, logistics.
01:24 In the discussion of e-commerce and digital economy,
01:27 the business landscape of the Philippines is a good attraction for foreign investors
01:32 where 99.59% of the businesses in the country are built by micro, small and medium enterprises
01:40 or MSMEs.
01:42 We hope to see a greater increase in our trade balance between both countries.
01:47 That is important I think because one of the key hallmarks of the discussion between both leaders
01:53 last year in June and July was to increase trade investment promotions
01:59 and that will bring about a greater stake in the economies of both nations through the private sector.
02:05 Aside from the assistance in the ASEAN digital economy, DEX Connects also aims to accelerate
02:11 the adoption of MSMEs in the Philippines, particularly in Mindanao.
02:16 One of the key areas we are looking at of course in DEX Core is the development of Mindanao,
02:22 social development of Mindanao.
02:23 And I think both MDEC and of course some of the other agencies are geared towards seeing how we can do more
02:29 because we can expand this digital economy not only in central Philippines but also in the southern Philippines
02:37 which is in Mindanao.
02:38 We shouldn't be seen as competitors but we should be seen as an ASEAN bloc.
02:43 We should work together, strengthen our position and go into the global markets together.
02:48 I see as an ASEAN bloc going to different other blocs, has one, so then you become very much stronger.
02:55 Through the business expansion in the Philippines, foreign investors,
02:59 it will bring a lot of work for the Filipinos.
03:03 When they enter, they are bringing with them their solutions, their investments.
03:09 However, when they set up a company here, they are a bit lost in terms of how they're going to do their HR,
03:16 how they will set up the company.
03:18 So we come in to help on that aspect so that they can focus on their core business.
03:25 We see a lot of opportunity in Philippines and our plan is to expand regionally as well in Southeast Asia.
03:32 So we're already in Thailand and in Singapore and Philippines is one of the countries that we are looking forward to.
03:38 The strong trade relations between Malaysia and the Philippines
03:42 is an indication of the six decades of strong relations between the two countries.
