00:00 Top WWE executives named in the Vince McMahon lawsuit, a longtime pro wrestling couple part
00:06 ways, and our review of Monday Night Raw.
00:09 I'm Oli Davis, and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:19 Recalling an infamous streaker at the 1974 Academy Awards, John Cena presented Sunday's
00:25 Oscar for Best Costume completely in the nude.
00:29 With only the winner's envelope covering, where the 'Champ is Here' t-shirt would
00:33 point to.
00:34 But in a shocking new revelation, it's come out that Cena, and all of Hollywood, has lied
00:40 to us.
00:41 All that nudity was just a pro wrestling work, as photos have come out of Cena awaiting his
00:46 cue showing him wearing a flesh-coloured cloth backstage.
00:50 He's not really naked!
00:52 Wait, wait, I can only see flesh-coloured cloth there.
00:56 It's just floating.
00:58 There's no John Cena in this photo.
01:00 Guys, we're a professional news outlet.
01:03 When I say we need a picture of John Cena, I need a picture.
01:07 Flesh-coloured cloth or not, we all know what was really going on here.
01:10 It was a humiliation ritual for Cena to prove his commitment to the Illuminati.
01:14 Adding yet another case study for why you should never do a pro wrestling break-up storyline
01:18 with your real-life partner, AEW stars Miro and CJ Perry - the former Bruce Evan Lana
01:24 in WWE - have announced they are splitting up.
01:28 The couple got married in 2016, where WWE would frequently book them in break-up angles.
01:33 Most infamously, Lana's onscreen romance with Bobby Lashley, which somehow resulted
01:38 in Liv Morgan also revealing herself as Lana's lover.
01:41 That was on the New Year's Eve 2019 episode of Raw, which feels like it should've been
01:46 much longer ago.
01:48 TMZ have reported the pair have had an on-again, off-again relationship for a period, but decided
01:53 to go their separate ways in late 2023.
01:56 Perry confirmed the news to TMZ, "Miro and I have made the difficult decision to separate
02:01 after many wonderful years together and have decided to move on as friends and hopefully
02:05 on-screen characters somewhere down the road."
02:09 Miro hasn't wrestled on AEW since World's End in December, and Perry was recently hospitalised
02:14 due to a nasty infection of her finger.
02:17 On the 25th January, former WWE employee Janelle Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon,
02:22 John Laurinaitis and WWE with accusations of sexual abuse and trafficking.
02:27 McMahon denied the allegations, but resigned from his position at TKO days later.
02:33 While the lawsuit directly names Grant, McMahon and Laurinaitis, a number of other parties
02:38 are given anonymous titles or descriptions - like the reference to a world famous athlete
02:43 and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, who the Wall Street Journal reports is Brock Lesnar.
02:48 Front Office Sports, courtesy of some fantastic reporting from Tim Marchman, John Pollock
02:53 and Brandon Thurston, have confirmed the identities of the corporate officers #1, 2, 3 and 4,
02:59 who are also referenced in the suit.
03:01 It's important to note that these corporate officers are not personally accused of sexual
03:05 misconduct or violence.
03:07 Rather, the suit claims that they and others facilitated and covered up exploitation in
03:13 ways that make WWE liable under federal anti-trafficking law.
03:17 Front Office Sports confirmed with Janelle Grant's lawyer Ang Kalas that Corporate
03:21 Officer #1 is the current President of WWE, Nick Khan, and #2 is Chief Operating Officer
03:29 Brad Blum.
03:30 The suit alleges McMahon had informed Blum and Khan about the nature of his and Grant's
03:36 relationship, where the suit alleges they expressed concern, but were ultimately supportive.
03:41 WWE denies this conversation ever happened.
03:44 WWE issued the following statement in reply.
03:48 "WWE takes Ms. Grant's allegations very seriously and has no tolerance for any physical
03:53 abuse or unwanted physical contact.
03:55 Neither Nick Khan nor Brad Blum, prior to the lawsuit being filed on January 25, 2024,
04:01 were aware of any allegation by Ms. Grant that she was the victim of abuse or unwanted
04:07 physical contact.
04:08 Nor does the complaint allege that either had knowledge of such."
04:12 Additionally, Corporate Officer #3 was revealed to be Vince's daughter Stephanie, who is
04:17 mentioned ambiguously.
04:18 The suit alleges she was aware of instances of her father engaging in inappropriate sexual
04:23 conduct.
04:24 And Corporate Officer #4 is Brian Nurse, who was head of WWE's legal department.
04:29 Neither Stephanie or Nurse replied to Front Office Sports' request for comment.
04:33 There's no easy way to transition from that story into a review of Monday Night Raw, so
04:38 here's a clip from our brand new season of Monday Night Raw.
04:45 [CLIP]
05:10 The
05:36 show began with Drew McIntyre coming out to the ring and calling out Seth Rollins for
05:40 focusing on everything except his challenger for his world title, which brought out Seth
05:44 himself, who baited Drew to try and claim on him.
05:47 Drew didn't, instead flipping the advice Seth gave him before back to Seth.
05:52 He played an Uno reverse card on him.
05:54 Seth in the past has told Drew to stop focusing on distractions around him, stop focusing
05:58 on the bloodline, and work his way back to the world title.
06:01 Now Drew wants Seth to stop being distracted by the bloodline and focus on their match
06:05 together at WrestleMania.
06:07 But Seth points out Drew's hypocrisy, saying that he doesn't want the bloodline to get
06:10 involved, but he thinks he'd actually like nothing more.
06:13 He beat Cody Rhodes and he beat Jey Uso with the bloodline's assistance, he wants them
06:18 at WrestleMania.
06:19 Trying to bait Drew once again, he said that the reason he hasn't paid him much attention
06:23 in the build to Mania is because on his list of threats right now, Drew's at the bottom,
06:28 which kind of solidifies Drew's point of Seth not taking him seriously, but regardless,
06:32 Drew stormed out and that was that.
06:34 It was a solid segment, both cut good promos and raised good points.
06:37 I don't think I'm more interested in their title match though.
06:40 Becky Lynch faced Liv Morgan next in what was a corker of a match.
06:44 The two brought their A-Game and kept up a fast pace for the entire duration, with Liv
06:48 actually being the one in control for most of the match.
06:50 Hitting moves like a Springboard Codebreaker and a Sunset Flip Powerbomb off the apron
06:54 to the floor are sure to whip the crowd up in a frenzy, and it worked.
06:58 Liv hit the Oblivion, but Becky rolled out the ring, and in a great mirror later on,
07:02 Becky hit a Manhandle Slam, but Liv rolled out the ring as well.
07:06 Becky ended up winning clean with another Manhandle Slam, but this match was very, very
07:10 fun.
07:11 Rhea Ripley came out afterwards, stared down Liv Morgan as she walked out, and had a promo
07:15 with Becky where Becky had the money line of "when people believe in me, I'm good,
07:19 but when people doubt me, I'm great".
07:22 I'm quite looking forward to this match, y'know?
07:25 Backstage later on, Becky and Liv shook hands, but Nia Jax attacked them, putting Becky through
07:29 a table, so Becky called her out for a Last Woman Standing match next week.
07:33 Rhea mentioned in her promo earlier that Becky is putting her body on the line every week
07:37 and is going to leave herself vulnerable at WrestleMania, and Becky's proving her right.
07:42 Maxine Dupree and Ivyn Isle faced Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae next, where Maxine Dupree
07:46 got a quick hot tag and was going to do the worm, but Candice stepped in her way and verbally
07:51 berated her, asking why she'd try that and that she doesn't belong here.
07:56 That's why people are booing her.
07:58 Indi then hit her with a big boot and won, and this was all very weird.
08:03 Now I don't think you need to turn everything that's real into a storyline, and this one
08:08 felt very forced, especially with the commentators putting over how horrible Candice was for
08:13 saying what she was saying.
08:14 It was announced that we're getting a tag team six pack ladder match at WrestleMania,
08:18 a 12 man ladder match!
08:20 Sign me up!
08:21 Qualifiers will be taking place on Raw and SmackDown, and I am very up for this.
08:25 The ones announced for Raw next week were New Day vs Otis and Akira Tozawa, DIY vs The
08:29 Kree Brothers and R-Truth and The Miz vs Indu Cher.
08:32 Judgment Day were upset about this backstage, confronting Adam Pearce and Nick Oldis, where
08:36 Damian Priest set up a match with R-Truth.
08:38 Michael Cole invited Cody Rhodes out to the ring, where he asked Cody how he can trust
08:42 Seth after everything they've been through, and brought up some pretty good points as
08:46 to why he shouldn't.
08:47 Cody says people can change.
08:48 I mean hey, he tagged with Jey Uso, Cole used to be sitting in his coal mine and he changed.
08:53 Thank God.
08:54 He did.
08:55 The Cody Classic, an emotional promo about his family, saying the story isn't just
08:59 about Roman's title anymore, it's about the fans who come out and see Cody every week,
09:03 it's about his sister, his wife.
09:05 For the first time at WrestleMania, Michael Cole will be able to say that Cody Rhodes
09:10 finished the story.
09:12 Cody is so cheesy, and so corny, and he's perfect, and I don't know how he does it,
09:17 but I love Cody, and I don't know why I don't hate him yet.
09:21 How does he do it?
09:22 What's the intangible quality that he possesses?
09:25 Scientists will be looking into this for years.
09:27 The Kabuki Warriors successfully defended their women's tag titles against Shayna
09:30 Baszler and Zoey Stark next in a fine match, featuring the Kota Kai distraction on the
09:34 outside.
09:35 Backstage, Andrade arrives and says he's willing to talk business with Judgment Day.
09:40 Rhea says that Dom speaks highly of him, and Finn agrees.
09:42 They're going to talk business soon.
09:44 I'm intrigued.
09:45 Damian Priest faced R-Truth next, with DIY coming out to assist Truth.
09:49 They get attacked by the other members of Judgment Day on the outside, and after Truth
09:52 comes to their aid, he gets hit by the South of Heaven from Priest for the win.
09:56 A fine match.
09:58 Judgment Day beat up DIY after the bell.
10:00 Jey Uso did his admittedly very cool entrance, and called out Jimmy Uso for WrestleMania.
10:05 With their current characters, I feel like Jey should be winning that match in about
10:07 five minutes.
10:09 And it was time for the main event, a gauntlet match for the number one contendership for
10:13 the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania.
10:16 Throughout the night were promos for every competitor in the match, aside from Sami Zayn.
10:20 Hmm, I wonder why.
10:21 Gunther also got a video package and a backstage promo to hype the match, and let me tell you,
10:26 it worked.
10:27 I was very into this match from the off, which started with Ricochet vs. JD McDonough.
10:31 It started pretty okay, but became great towards the end, with some fantastic spots, but Ricochet
10:37 put away JD with a Shooting Star Press to end this first section.
10:40 But because Ricochet had taken a fair beating, it left him vulnerable for a Bronson Reed,
10:45 who put him away fairly quickly with a Tsunami.
10:48 But then, out came Sami Zayn, and the match picked up again.
10:52 Sami just managed to put Bronson away with a Sunset Flip Powerbomb off the middle rope,
10:56 but after Bronson was eliminated, he hit Sami with a Tsunami anyway, leaving the scraps
11:00 for the next entrant, Shinsuke Nakamura.
11:03 But Sami fought back, nearly rolling Shinsuke up immediately, before the two had quite the
11:07 compelling back and forth, with commentary remarking how these two tore the house down
11:11 at NXT TakeOver Dallas.
11:12 I love that they can mention that again now.
11:15 After a brilliant little sequence resulting in a Halluva Kick from Sami Zayn from out
11:19 of nowhere, he just managed to pin Shinsuke, which left the final two competitors Sami
11:24 Zayn and Chad Gable, and I was pumped.
11:28 Both of them get fired up, and Gable got Sami to his feet, wanting to beat him legitimately,
11:33 and immediately Sami lunged at him, Chad ducked under, and hit a German Suplex, and I don't
11:38 know what it was, but it made me smile so much.
11:40 The drama in this match was absolutely insane, with nearfall after nearfall, captivating
11:46 psychology, great spot after great spot, multiple ankle locks, slams, blue thunderbomb attempts,
11:51 an amazing sequence happened where Sami just managed to limp into a Halluva Kick, Chad
11:56 kicked out at 2.9, straight into a Crucifix Pin, where Sami kicked out at 2.9, and both
12:01 times the crowd bought that it was the finish.
12:04 Chad throws the straps down, gets another ankle lock in after a German Suplex, but Sami
12:08 manages a counter, rolls up Chad, and gets the three count.
12:13 Sami Zayn is going to WrestleMania, and Chad was absolutely dejected.
12:17 Gunther came out to stare down Sami, and I am so excited for that match, but I feel so
12:22 bad for Gable, I want more for him.
12:24 I don't know when and I don't know how, but he needs more.
12:27 And if you want more evidence of him being the absolute best, check out the promo he
12:31 did for a WWE.com exclusive.
12:33 It's incredible, genuine and heartbreaking.
12:36 I love Chad Gable.
12:37 What's miraculous about this match though, is that normally when the crowd picks a winner
12:41 in their minds, they automatically reject the other person, but in this one, they were
12:46 happy with either winner, they were both over and both acceptable as challenges for Gunther,
12:51 and that's incredible.
12:52 An amazing end to a very good episode of Raw.
12:55 This week's Raw is 4/5.
12:57 Now check out episode 1 of the Monday Night War.
13:00 We're back for season 4 with me, Luke, and newcomer Dan Layton, and week 1 is a doozy.
