00:13 Ahead of the 2024 Oscars telecast, a protest calling for a ceasefire in Gaza
00:18 began at the Cinerama Dome in Los Angeles and made its way toward the Dolby Theater.
00:26 The protest, organized by Writers Against the War on Gaza L.A., Film Workers for Palestine,
00:31 SAG-AFTRA members for Ceasefire and more groups, came to a halt at the intersection
00:36 of Sunset and Highland, where cars were stuck in standstill traffic for more than 30 minutes.
00:40 As a result, people began leaving their cars at the intersection,
00:43 knowing they'd likely get towed and walking toward the event.
00:46 Ariana Grande shared this post on her Instagram story, referencing the traffic. She was later
00:50 spotted rushing into the show. The broadcast was delayed six minutes due to late arrivals.
00:55 On the red carpet, stars like Mark Ruffalo, Billie Eilish, Ava DuVernay, Rami Youssef and more were
01:01 red artists for ceasefire pins. Youssef spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the meaning behind
01:06 the pins. "We're all calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. We're calling for the
01:11 safety of everyone involved and we really want lasting justice and peace for the Palestinian
01:16 people." Inside the show, stars like Emma Stone, Rita Moreno and Greta Gerwig, as well as Issa
01:20 Ray and John Batiste could be seen chatting it up during commercial breaks. THR also spotted
01:25 director Martin Scorsese talking to Lily Gladstone after Stone won Best Actress for Poor Things,
01:31 an award many thought the Killers of the Flower Moon actress was favored to win.
01:34 Jimmy Kimmel hosted the ceremony. During one of his bits, he made a callback to the 1974 Oscars,
01:40 when a streaker ran across the stage. But this time, it was planned with none other than John Cena.

01:52 While it looked like Cena was completely naked on screen, eyes from inside the Dolby Theater
01:58 revealed that he was in fact wearing a flesh-colored sling. He was later given a
