00:03 You've been at the top of the game wherever you have been.
00:06 Most recently, of course, it was with the New York Mets,
00:08 thought we would do a quick preview of the upcoming Mets season.
00:12 What a turn of events, Buck, over the last year, I gotta tell you.
00:15 I mean, we're sitting in this chair, I'm sitting in this chair last year talking,
00:19 everyone's talking about how the Mets have won the offseason, and
00:22 all these signings, and all these players are brought in.
00:24 And then, I mean, you have to deal with injuries like I think I've never seen
00:28 before from the pitching staff and in baseball in general.
00:32 And now all of a sudden,
00:33 it's like things are being run a different way with the Mets here.
00:37 And injuries still unfortunately there with Senga, so to speak.
00:41 But do you think this year the Mets can kinda get a little bit back to where we
00:45 thought they were going to be, because none of the projections really say that
00:50 going into the season?
00:52 >> Without a doubt, if Marte coming back,
00:55 the guy that hit second in 100 game season really didn't play much last year.
01:01 Probably the best closer in baseball when healthy is coming back.
01:05 I think a big move that's gonna help them is Quintana coming back.
01:09 We missed him for two thirds of the season.
01:11 He was gonna pitch between Scherzer and Verlander, and
01:15 that never really transpired, but he did show everybody what he was capable of.
01:20 It's the pitching, and I think the expectations, young players like Beatty,
01:24 and Vientos, and Alvarez, I think a full season.
01:27 It's that second year, they get a taste of it, and
01:30 you find out whether they're gonna bite as a big dog as opposed to a puppy.
01:34 And I just think Jeff McNeil's gonna have a better year, and
01:38 Pete Alonzo's gonna contract here, so you know what happens there.
01:42 And Nimmo's solid.
01:43 It's really about the what ifs with all these teams.
01:47 It's playing baseball seven days a week for seven months.
01:51 It's just not a normal thing to do to your body.
01:54 Severino's got a chance to jump forward.
01:56 Mania, we know what he's capable of.
01:58 They're really gonna try to upgrade some defensively in the outfield with Bader.
02:03 And there's a lot of good things there, but
02:06 the depth is what's gonna be important, because not everybody's gonna hold up.
02:10 If you ask every manager right now, what could you pick?
02:14 One thing to have in your team, he'd say the health of the team that we project.
02:19 I'd love to go back and see how many times you actually go on the field with
02:23 that team you project coming out of spring training.
