Severe storms are expected to cause delays and cancellations in some major travel hubs from March 9-10.
Transcript
00:00 After a little snow in Denver,
00:01 we're clearing up into our Saturday,
00:03 so taking to the skies or the road
00:06 shouldn't have any weather related
00:07 travel delays. That's some good news,
00:09 but of course we've got to check out
00:11 some of the other views coming in
00:13 from around the country because not
00:15 everywhere is going to be smooth sailing.
00:18 Eastern US.
00:18 This is where we have so much of that
00:21 rainfall still streaming its way on
00:23 through for Saturday. I wish we could
00:25 get rid of it. Major delays possible
00:27 in Atlanta and we know there's
00:29 some big hubs here, so.
00:31 That's a busy airport.
00:32 You don't want to slow down.
00:33 Meanwhile, Seattle dealing with
00:35 some wet weather as well.
00:36 This is the next storm system
00:37 starting to come in here and we
00:39 are going to have some challenges
00:41 with rain in Seattle, Portland,
00:42 even towards Medford places like
00:44 San Francisco, probably squeezing
00:45 out a largely dry day,
00:46 at least for a little while before we
00:48 get into some of the shower activity.
00:50 Salt Lake City. No problems as you
00:52 work your way farther to the East.
00:54 We get in on some of the early
00:56 morning rain in Little Rock.
00:58 We get some of the major delays,
01:00 but off towards the East.
01:01 There's even bigger issues.
01:02 You can see some heavy rainfall,
01:04 thunderstorm activity,
01:04 Atlanta. You're going to have that problem.
01:06 Jacksonville for the afternoon hours.
01:08 We could have some severe thunderstorms
01:09 try to work their way on nearby,
01:11 so watch out for damaging winds and
01:13 potentially some very heavy rain
01:15 that could lead to flooding.
01:16 Nashville finishing up with
01:17 the thunderstorm activity.
01:18 So the delays are mostly in the morning hours.
01:21 I think things get a lot better
01:22 through the afternoon and evening,
01:24 and the cool blustery pattern is
01:26 starting to work its way through.
01:27 Detroit and Columbus.
01:28 It starts off as rain.
01:30 Then we dry out a little bit
01:32 throughout the day.
01:33 Buffalo some heavy rainfall likely
01:34 throughout the course of the day.
01:36 It really comes in for the later
01:38 morning hours and doesn't let up.
01:40 And New York, Philadelphia,
01:41 Baltimore, Washington,
01:42 DC all have to deal with that rainfall.
01:44 Light cancellations due to some of
01:46 the thunderstorm activity and the rainfall.
01:48 That's what's going to slow us
01:50 down right through Sunday.
01:51 Then after that,
01:52 as the winds hopefully die down,
01:54 we'll see the flight cancellations
01:55 decrease this afternoon.
01:56 decrease this week.
