Northumberland bus routes could be hit by strikes as Arriva drivers and engineers in Blyth and Ashington are being balloted by trade union Unite.

00:00 From Tuesday the 5th of March around 300 Unite members working for Arriva Northumbria as bus workers will begin voting for industrial action.
00:10 Now this follows a number of meetings where we've failed to reach agreement over pay.
00:15 Our claim we know is affordable having scrutinised Arriva's financial accounts but management refused to meet that claim.
00:25 In order to prevent industrial action from going ahead what Arriva management needed to do was return to the negotiating table with an offer that our members will find acceptable.
